s3xmoditmania is an annual tournament hosted outside of BotB but announced via Bulletin, where a set of participants create s3xmodit entries based on a given samplepack. There are a few eilimination rounds until the winner of the final round is selected, which makes them the winner of the tournament.

Rules

First of all, the rules might vary from time to time. So please always refer to the individual announcement threads!

- usually, the only allowed module file types are .mod, .s3m, .xm and .it
- samples are submitted by everyone who wants before the tournament starts (and sometimes while it's still running for later rounds)
- no outside samples can be used
- openmpt hacks are permitted, but voter dont have to use mpt playback when voting, so using that stuff is at your own risk!

Schedule

- the tournament takes place over a series of elimination rounds (usually five)
- after the samplepack is published, every participant has five days to work on their entry
- after the entry period is over, there are two days left for voting. depending on the page where the event is hosted, the voting process changes
- if someone doesnt submit an entry for a round, its given a score of 0
- sometimes, theres a so called "ghost round" happening after round 3 or 4 where everyone who's already out or never entered in the first place is able to submit an entry. the entry period is shorter, and only the winner (later changed to top 25% of entrants) is getting a chance to proceed
