cannot log in... interwebs says that you have "onlinemode=on" in your server settings which is requiring mojang authentication.

since you're using a private server it will work with "onlinemode=off" and people will not need mojang authentication.

it's because online mode is set to off. i looked up the issue a lil bit earlier since my skins/items weren't showing up as well (specifically only on this server, in other servers/single player games everything showed up fine), and a couple forum posts made the issue clear.

it skips mojang authentication, so because of this it does not apply the mojang-accessed save file to the server. i'm assuming it creates a new "offline" save in its place that will be overwritten once the mojang one is accessible again.

so golgi i want my skins and baked potato stacks back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

moving forward it means that people don't have to have mojang accounts and can use loaders though. :)

same issue present here; everything in my inventory/player data got wiped. requesting to turn back online mode asap.

online mode has been turned back on for the time being. If offline mode is going to be a thing now, and if we can't use the online mode save then i suggest hopping back on and putting all your valuables in a chest.

seems that if you upgraded your server to spigot, that we wouldn't have the issues... and all skins/etc are automatically converted and saved inbetween online and offline modes. :)

it's not really just the fact that inventories don't transfer over, but having it on offline mode makes it even more vulnerable to certain attacks.

as no validation is done, you either have to hope nobody is bored enough to fuck over multiple people, or use an authentification plugin (if one even exists).

i'd be all in on having offline mode on ONLY if there's some form of this plugin enabled on the server.

alternatively, just buy the game. it's not that expensive.

why not just take the public IP off this forum post and stick it in the IRC channel topic; then upgrade the server and all people can play with decreased security risks?

I'm having a few issues now that the server is Spigot. 1) Attacking is extremely unreliable and only works when it feels like it (hint: not when i'm being attacked), and 2) rip entity selectors in commands.

I got a nice and shitty server host that's real cheap so I'll put something up on that and we can see how far we can take it before I need to upgrade. I am ass at minecraft so I might not be on much but whatever

anyway we need to decide if we wanna play the latest version or something older, what gamerules we set, and if we want online mode or offline

if we do offline mode, you can connect without a legitimate copy of the game but skins won't work and I would need to setup an authentication system or else everyone could log into each other's accounts. so online mode is easier but if anyone here doesn't want to buy the game we can probably figure something out.

and for the gamerules, we can have it so only a specific number of people need to be sleeping for the night to skip, or disable creeper explosions, and other stuff like that. tell me your desires

oh yeah and last thing: we can have the ingame chat be bridged with discord or irc. mods let me know if you want to get that figured out.

my vote goes towards latest version online mode, and for gamerules probably should have half the server sleep for daytime

latest versions are too confusing to me by now, so i'd vote for 1.16.5, online mode, and 50% of all players sleeping for a night skip

i think the version should be at least 1.18 since thats when caves got a huge update. pre-1.18 caves suck hard!!
everything beyond 1.18 is probably not that necessary as they just add a couple of things that dont really affect the core game. tho i personally would like to play on a server on the newer versions since some of those minor features are cool and fun!

and we got a bridge bot already set up, you’d just invite it to your server and I configure the channel to bridge in the minecraft server settings. you can also add a minecrafters role that will sync with the server and can even be used as a whitelist.

I am tempted to use java so I can put some shaders on and personally, bedrock is a tad bit buggy but I can swap between if needed.

For java, I hope client side mods like "Do a barrel roll" and non-cheaty stuff is allowed. let me know if stuff like minimaps or waypoints are "Illegal". QOL mods I have played with for years seem to stick to me...
