greetings and salutations!
I'm starting to prep for this year's Advent Calendar major, a series of 24-hour battles that runs from December 1st thru 24th. you can be a part of this battle! in this thread, you can shout out what formats you'd like to see represented, as well as post potential bitpacks that could appear during the major! this thread will be open for the month of October!
for the uninitiated: what is this!?
first off there's a Lyceum article about this series if that's your thing.
the BotB Advent Calendar was started by kleeder in December 2018 as a daily OHB series with a different format each day. the formats would be a new surprise each time, like opening the little doors of an actual advent calendar. starting in 2020, the series became a yearly major battle where each entry period lasts exactly 24 hours, then rolls over into a new entry period with a new format - essentially a "timezone-friendly XHB"! it's one of the biggest events on the site - currently it occupies 5/10 slots of the Top 10 battles by entry count.
I have helped co-host this event since 2023, and this year kleeder has left it in my hands, so I'm excited to announce I will be the sole host of Advent Calendar 2026! this has been my favorite BotB event of the year since I first participated in 2020, and I love it to death. it's such a great opportunity to try new things! Advent has been my first shot at quite a few formats I now love.

OK, so - your replies, and the lieks on your posts, will help determine what formats will appear. the 24 formats of this battle will be a surprise, and they will be varied. nothing about this is set in stone, and I don't promise any particular format will get in, but it will absolutely help me plan the schedule, and I will be paying attention! everyone is more than welcome to post what format(s) you'd be most interested in seeing appear.
also, historically we've taken bitpack suggestions from the community and done our best to incorporate many of them in the battle. in the last couple years, nearly all the bitpacks were user-submitted. feel free to share any ideas you have for something fun! no rules here really; you don't need to include a format (I might ignore it if you do). if you want some inspiration check out some of the previous years' bitpacks.
(for more accurate liek data, it might be useful to put your format suggestion(s) in a different post than bitpacks, but do it however you see fit)
since there are likely to be some sample-based formats in the mix, please also DM me samples to include in bitpacks (damifortune on Discord, or send me a link in a boon gift message). most of the sample packs these last few years have been comprised of stuff people sent in.
