Do not pretend or try to be something or someone you aren't. You'll find more mileage in expanding on what's present within you.
Now to be a little indirect:
To imitate another is to succumb to literal meaning, the real enemy of all of the arts.
The "absence of limitations", the "commercialization", those are all products of applying literal meaning to a form of expression that's by its nature abstract.
Strive to be the artist you want to be, but do not attempt be the person the mind wants you to be the exact same as.
Doing so will only devolve into a constant cycle of misery and rumination, a state so undesirable and hard to escape from it's not but a wonder why people avoid it.
