TEDzakker is native C16 TED/plus4-tracker released by Hermit
in late 2015. The latest tool is tagged as V1.2r3, and works on both C16 and Plus/4, also under both Windows and Linux OSes. All the versions can be downloaded starting from here
.
There's a C64 version too, which emulates the TED sound on C64 and that reached V1.1 here
, and here
are all the download and links to all the past V1.0 and V1.1 versions.

Capabilities

BRIEFLY
---------
TEDzakker provides support for up to 16 subtunes, 100 patterns, 58 instruments, 6 different player-types for different needs and rastertimes/sizes, HerMIDI MIDI-interface support and much more. (Check the trackers readme-file for further information!)

Does not support NTSC on hardware!

LENGHTY
-----------
Let's see some extra features of TEDzakker in a nutshell:
- maximum 10 subtunes (only 1 on Commodore16), 100 patterns (only 8 on C16), 58 instruments (only 6 on C16)
- 6 different player-types for different needs and rastertimes/sizes ('normal', 'light',etc.)
- TED sound emulation on SID for C64 version (Plus4 music can be composed on C64, TED can be driven by C64) (some rarely used aspects of TED aren't emulated by SID: ultrasounds, freq.$3FE, phase, 'noiseloop')
- HerMIDI MIDI-interface support (notes can be played, instruments can be
selected)
- multispeed call can eat smaller rastertime than the single-speed (50Hz) call
- multispeed is selectable for waveform/frequency/volume tables of each
individual instrument
- note-column effects (Slide Up/Down, Vibrato, Sync, Legato, Automatic
Tone-Portamento)
- funktempo/tempoprogram programmable by consequent tempo-effects in orderlist
- subtune-jump effect to other subtune in orderlist
- short 1ms whitenoise can be enabled for instruments (crisp soundstarts)
- SYNC and PHASE between the two channels, possible to create ringmod or PWM-like sounds
- bass sounds deeper than A2=108Hz by utilizing 'noiseloop' (sounds a bit thin though, needs doubling)
- main-volume simulation with fade-out support, volume/fadeout can be set externally
- note-volume fade-in/out in instrument-tables to create volume-envelopes (ADSR and the like)
- note-OFF table-indexes (good e.g. for ADSR 'release' simulation)
- different mixing modes to map the virtual volumes of channels to shared volume
- detune/slide effect can be set by instr.table/pattern/orderlist, it is
permanent (saving patterns)
- normal/incremental vibrato, balanced vibrato/slide-speed strength in lower octaves
- gentle vibrato-amplitude setting: waits till vibrato returns to zero-crossing, so avoids pitch-drifting
- Instrument load/save support (each instrument has its own individual table)
- Runnable and playable tunes can be exported directly from TEDzakker editor just like workfiles
- Built-in cheatsheet and built-in tutorial/example-tune for all player-types

Quick set up

The TEDzakker's different versions support various compiled executables of the same tracker. All of those executables have some different behaviour and/or features, but you can look them up in the readme-file. Just start with medium or normal, whatever you want.
The tracker will be loaded and you're ready to start a new track.

EMULATORS
--------------
If you wanna work with an emulator, download the TEDzakker-1.2r3.zip and extract all files in a directory of your choice. Then, depending by the chosen emulator:
- YAPE
: File->Attach disk image (or just hit Alt+D); alternatively, simply tray the chosen D64 file into the YAPE's window;
- plus4emu
: Options->Floppy->Configure (or just hit Alt+D).
Use the BASIC commands to load the chosen file:
DIRECTORY (or just hit F3 key) to see what's in the D64;
DLOAD"<filename> (or just hit F2 key and type the filename )to load the chosen editor;
RUN to run the loaded program.
Briefly, load the respective editors with:
DLOAD"TEDZAKKER-XTRA -> for extra player;
DLOAD"TEDZAKKER-NORMAL -> for normal player;
DLOAD"TEDZAKKER-MEDIUM -> for medium player;
DLOAD"TEDZAKKER-LIGHT -> for light player;
DLOAD"TEDZAKKER-DEMO -> for demo player;
DLOAD"TEDZAKKER-C16-DE -> for C16 limited player
... and more, depending of the TEDzakker D64's version involved.

- VICE
(xplus4): Autostart disk/tape image and select one of the following .prg files (e.g.: TEDzakker 1.0's D64):
- tedzakker-demo.prg
- tedzakker-horiz.prg
- tedzakker-light.prg
- tedzakker-medium.prg
- tedzakker-normal.prg
- tedzakker-xtra.prg
(notes about other operating systems: on GNU/Linux (and perhaps on MacOS-X and other operating systems) most VICE versions might not recognize bios files and refuses to start - old ms-windows versions of VICE might work fine on Wine - some emulators like Mame has no accurate sound emulator and doesn't save files on imagedisks)

BEWARE!! VICE USAGE IS DISCOURAGED DUE OF ITS MEDIOCRE EMULATION!!

WINDOWS / LINUX
----------------------
Download and run the proper executable to be run on Windows
or Linux
. Those programs works exactly like the native trackers, and load/save 100% compatible files at any level, so they are strongly recommended.

Composing

I won't write down all the possibilities TEDzakker is offering, because you can simply look them up in the readme. (seriously, this readme is GOOD!)
Just some more notes:
- Save often! There may be crashes while you're working on your track.
- Not mandatory, but you should save your file with continuous numerating. Depending on your emulator settings, the file may or may not be overwritten if you're trying to save with the same file name over and over again. Just to be sure - save with different filenames!
- Download and install the tool DirMaster
to import or export files to the tedzakker.d64-disk image.
