I got a bug right off the bat. I typed kfaraday and ended up voting for Strobe instead.

And people should vote.. not on the best sounding entry, but on the entry that sounds most alike, right?

@KungFuFurby: there's no bug as far as i can tell. what probably happened was that you typed kfaraday, didn't select the radio button, and submitted. meanwhile, someone else voted for strobe. make sure you select the radio button when you use the custom field!

Clicking on the custom input field should automatically select the radio button for you. Either that, or the custom input field should be selected by default.

It might not be a bug, but confusing interfaces are often worse than bugs!

I suggested "custom" to be banned from this poll four days ago. No action was taken, now look wat happened!

I feel the responsibility lies also on the owners of the poll to keep it tidy and clean. Anonymous polls are much like public restrooms. Only a fool would rely on merely his customers to clean up after others.

golgi told people exactly this yesterday, and the amount of votes for "custom" and "Shooby Taylor the Human Horn" has only increased ever since.

I hereby conclude that the "A message to the trolls: please behave" approach does not work.

And once again I wonder why you don't just remove these two options. Or is Jangler the only person who can do that?

People will be more inclined to vote sensibly and take it seriously if there's less feces on the poll page.

I guess we'll have to see if kfaraday's trust in anonymous anarchy turns to be well-founded. If it doesn't, don't blame the community for the actions of a small minority.

A wild guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if the reason there are so few names is that folks feel awkward about nominating themselves and aren't sure who else to pick.

(I mostly say this because it echoes my own feelings and I don't want to be alone. :P )

Another thought I had on IRC but forgot to share: can we have future pastiches held as allgear? The last two were format-limited to what the subject usually makes, which seemingly makes sense but in reality this is going to (and probably already has) exclude(d) folks from participating because of format unfamiliarity. Plus it'd be super-cool to hear someone make some BotBrcore with something outside of said BotBr's usual toolbox. ;)

Obligatory Xasermotivation spoiler: I'm votin' HertzDevil for the sake of getting some crazy action going on, but I ain't gonna be able to participate if the format is NSF(+). D:

It's not impersonations, it's pastiches. Pastiches require some semblance of an overall style, and that requires an array of music.

Yibbon only has one entry, but for me, I'm not sure how good I would be able to replicate that style!

dog, on the other hand... I am familiar with him. That's because I covered A Pile of Leaves once. I actually have his entry archive on hand out of my own curiosity.

I hope some day I get lucky and have the night free so I can do this! And I hope when I do, the pastiche is of a highly sophisticated artist, such as dog!
