1) Piano -> It's my first instrument, so it's relatively easy to plunk around and get some new idea on it.

2) This one is difficult... either furnace or openMPT probably, but I hate openMPT and I probably wouldn't need to export to s3xmodit because I'm on a deserted island, so furnace*.

3) My cat (not an object but I want my cat on the deserted island soooo...)

*this is not an endorsement for furnace tracker Have you seen DRAM prices recently? Crazy stuff.

I don't have a real answer yet but the funny answer is I take three teenage engineering OP-1s and use them to hunt wildlife and or destroy them in anger

1. my acoustic guitar
2. osctet, of course - i would store it on CD so that i could wiggle it at distant boats, hoping to reflect flashes of sunlight. it would be lonely on the uninhabited island. i would want the boat people to come talk to me
3. a fire striker, i don't like my odds with a hand drill

if the island is only metaphorical then i think the answer to 2 becomes a C compiler and SDL

there's electricity on the island, you'll have a puter without internaet access and enough food for however long your stay might be \o.o

i'm so indecisive with the instrument department I struggle between guitar, accordion and piano/keyboard, but my gut tells me I should go with a keyboard

for software I'm gonna choose renoise

& I'd like to have a tape recorder or something, so I could record everything onto tape and have some kind of physical manifestation of that

Oh there's electricity? (I guess you'd need that for the music creation tool huh...) that makes the instrument choice easy then.

1. EWI. All the wind instruments I'd want to have without needing to worry about running out of reeds or anything like that. Granted, I'd still need to treat it with caution... but that goes for most instruments.

2. Probably have to default to Reaper just because it's what I know and can do the most amount of things in. If it doesn't come with any VSTs though then that might make things trickier, but I don't know what else would really serve me as well (as much as I enjoy doing SNES MML I'm not gonna say AddMusic lol)

3. I guess one of those loop pedal things that lets you play something and then keep adding layers? That'd be fun to have while stranded solo, though I suppose I could emulate the same thing by just recording multiple parts in a DAW.

Assumptions:
* I'm not actually stranded, I'm working in a lighthouse (to get survival issues out of the way)
* I'm allowed to ask for things I don't have.
* I have a power source and a computer (for question 2).

Answers:
1. Korg Kronos with 88 weighted keys, to close the corners on a piano, a MIDI controller, several types of synths and an in-the-box music making environment. It can also serve as the computer's external audio interface.
2. Max/MSP, since it seems like given ample time you could build any music application inside it. I only tried it once a long time ago, but I'm choosing it over Pure Data since it seems to be much more popular among musicians, and not because it's a grandfathered industry standard like Pro Tools.
3. Either a Tascam DR-40X recording device or Giorgio III
, I haven't decided yet.

1. My accordion probably. Piano is tempting because it's more versatile, but accordion seems to fit the stranded island vibe better.

2. Goattracker II. I love famitracker but I've already spent so much time with it. If I'm stranded with GT2 then I'll finally have enough time to practice and get good at it

3. Notebook and fountain pen (with endless supply of paper and ink). That way I could write out sheet music, practice drawing, design board games, write a novel, do math, maybe even journal.

Somebody please strand me on an island with the above items and endless food. It sounds like a great time!

one instrument you'd take with you
piano! as long as it has 88 keys I'm good. guitars rule but holy shit I gotta keep going w piano bc I can go anywhere from there

one software for music creation
furnace! renoise is powerful but I know I'll get better faster w furnace. there's so many chips I never wrote for yet and there's still a lot for me to find out w opl2 and opl3 fm

one other item / object / device
Fluffy-BotB! no more rat race, no more clocking in anywhere, no more bullshit forever and ever amen. we win. may all of us win but I'll settle for "we win". eat shit corporate america. eat someone else's; we'll be long gone. holy shit I'd miss the cats. and yet the cats can't stand each other so if they get new homes apart from each other it'll almost be an upgrade for them. almost. and this being an island there's gonna be lots of birds! she wins. finally more birds than cats

my laptop's the panasonic cf-31, it runs devuan daedalus linux, and I still got 40+gb free. my videos folder has piano rolled ragtime and I can learn to play it all on the island. plenty of room to save furnace modules. hard drive's nearly a full terabyte so if I gotta clear stuff out for more modules that's cool too

Truly working out piano rags on a desert island is a fate to be desired
