Tobikomi - What's Next on the List (Listen)

Tobikomi does a great job of using retro chips in fresh styles — in this case, doing an awesome take on mallsoft, weathercore, or whatever the hell you wanna call it with some smooth, soothing FM.

Beej - Starlight Swing (Listen)

Of course I'd pick a song with an uptempo swing, but this one is super fun! Really captures the essence of the sgen style, I feel, definitely leaning (for me) into some Sonic-era vibes.

SnugglyBun - Seize Over The Enemy Forces! (Listen)

An arcade banger if I've ever heard one. Feels like I'm cruising in a ship or through some lab or detonating the command center in an action thriller with that intense slap bass and drum groove.

coda - Wave Sequence (Listen)

To be fair, this track was very well received, but it's *so* damn good and only got a few tin cans (4th in Fakebit and a couple categories) when I thought it'd be on the pedestal for a few of them.

There’s a lot I’d personally consider in this realm, maybe I’ll make a hidden gems playlist like agargara did at some point. Here’s a few that come to mind for now. My quick take is botb’s output as a collective whole is underrated, but I think that’s what makes me love it so much


snap & melt by roz. Probably fits in this category because OHBs don’t get a lot of visibility but I love this one a lot.
