The AdLib soundcard was released in 1987 and featured the Yamaha YM3812 sound chip (also known as the OPL2). By 1992 the Sound Blaster card had wiped the AdLib off the market by copying it's features, adding digital sound and a gameport. The AdLib is the godfather of music in PC games.
