Kind of controversial, but original Fritos might be my favorite at the moment.
I am also a sucker for plain old tortilla chips, especially My Nana's brand.

In isolation, I prefer salt-&-vinegar potato chips, but tortilla chips are best for combining with anything else.

i tend to like a lot of the plain/original flavors actually... pringles, stax (the lays pringles knockoff), kettle chips, pop chips. sometimes i enjoy some of the other kettle chip flavors but my preference is Regular. same for pita chips (sea salt or multigrain), which is for sure what i eat the most of as a snack with hummus. also those root veggie chips with the assorted yams and taro and such, damn i love those... especially good with a little peanut butter

for sure tortilla chips rule always. thick or thin, any kind, long as they aren't stale they whip ass. but usually i'm not a big snacker and keep most snacks out of my house, so pita and root veggie chips are my go-tos

i spent far too long staring at the title of this question and thinking "are there types other than chocolate?"

anyway, i gotta join the majority and say tortilla chips are superior. after that, probably bbq chips. and after that, there's chips that i like more for nostalgia than actual quality, like pizza flavored pringles or cheeto puffs (anyone remember twisted cheeto puffs? those were the shit).

Even though these are more crackers, Wheat Thins have got to be my favorite. I used to be a sucker for Triscuits, but now it’s like gnawing on wicker deck furniture.

For a literal chip, Julio’s Original Tortilla Chips are so good, like the seasoning is unlike anything I’ve had on a chip. Then again, I’m American, so what do I know about Mexican chips 🤣

I forgot to mention Zapp's Voodoo chips which are pretty awesome, they're kettle cooked and also made by utz. I think they're also dressed chips which arceus mentioned

also I am pretty tortilla-pilled, especially for chipotle's

and if cheez-its count I am all over that original cheez-it shit

i think i shld have a little badge that says "ask me about takis". i did a ranking of them recently on my bsky check it outttt

dislike basic/original, dislike too salty, dislike too sweet. but i love it when chips burn my entire digestive system

must be correct texture. crunchy is great but my gums and teeth oft complain! thin (think lays) gets soggy too easily! i enjoy those chips with multiple layers and some fried textures. it is probably the worst for the body, but tbh i eat chips for the feel and not for the fill.

mmh, they used to sell strawberry flavoured chips at the mart when i was a kid, i only tried em once (i was hooked!) but then they stopped selling it immediately after. my life will be truly complete if i can get them again

American style french fries. English chips are nice, but to get them to be crispy takes longer, so fries are quicker to have as an easily seasoned snack at any time. Might be wrong, but they're also easier to season due to their smaller size

there's a variant of the zapps voodoo chips called voodoo heat which is spicier. It's sort of like a spicy vinegary type thing. there's also doritos dynamita chile limon. I try not to buy chips though

I used to like habanero potato Chips (yes, they're called like that, simply "Chips"), but idk if they're still in the market.

I’ve got a question. In Europe, are there different brands and types of food that you can get in one country? Like chips from Poland, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, etc. that you can all get in a store in Germany, for example?

@kalowe in Portugal what you can find are those mainstream ones, like lays, pringles, doritos, cheetos, ruffles and stuff like that, with all those flavours (and those supermarket private brands as well) - and when i lived in Brazil, that was around the same - and as i'm hipertensive with fatty liver, i use to run away from these stuff...

sometimes we also can find some different stuff in some indian/chinese/etc. supermarkets around

this one is from my childhood - https://www.continente.pt/produto/batata-frita-caseira-rodelas-pala-pala-3727556.html - very simple potato chips, but tasting a bit different from usual

@kalowe yes in the UK they are available but only occasionally would they be in the mainstream stores otherwise you would have to a; go to a speciality store for that culture and b; suck up a price hike vs domestic crisp products
