Hey guys, kinda new to this and this site but i wanna start composing some awesome stuff so is there any videos, applications, or just tips, like would i need to learn music theory or smt in general to get me started lol? i've listened to some stuff on here and really liked jakerson's stuff, just if you need any idea of what i wanna try make songs like, thx!

my first and foremost recommendation would be to just download some music making software and mess around.. for the chiptunes, famitracker

is a nice place to start, as it's pretty easy to get it making sound out the gate

for building blocks of music theory, musictheory.net

has some good lessons, though. i'd maybe recommend doing some experimenting first and then going there to start getting your bearings, so it feels less abstract

some folks have done video logs of working on one-hour battles here, in a few different formats, so you could watch those here if you were curious. you might glean something cool from them
