BoobieSqueezer link is dead since a while when i was checking in the Lyceum, and web waybacking doesn't help at all since it's download has never been archived. I need it for the compressed module file formats.

Isn't munch.py IT only? Also I'm not sure if either of those is backwards-compatible (munched .ITs aren't supported by the Impulse Tracker 2.14). Personally I don't advocate for hacks that break the file for native players/trackers.

hence i actually like using milkytracker for .xm files than openMPT so i prefer making XM files for compressed module files.

I love how the developer saw the boobie pic as a necessary part of the UI.

The tool seems to do decent work shaving solid two kilobytes off the total file size of a chiptune while also maintaining backwards-compability for old software, so just go for it. ModPlug Player freaks out a little bit but other than that it's fine (FT2 certified).

By the way, use caution when opening the exe. If you can you should run it in sandbox, just in case.

I'm pretty sure it's because the executable is packed with UPX. Virus scanners love UPX.
Would be better to have the actual source code though.

hehehe, I'm the old author of BoobieSqueezer, it's like 12 years old,
it is not a virus or malware in anyway, but I don't have the original file left, so I can't speak for re-distributed files ;)

originally it was a tool made for myself, so no pre-cautions for more sensitive audience was ever taken , as with anything you make for
your own use. By now I would have thought a way better tool existed
for compressing XM headers :D

Edit: Updated age of program to be more accurate.

Did you use UPX or any other packer for the executable?

Yes, it is either packed with Win/UPack or UPX, those were the two
exe compressors I was experimenting with at the time.

The file shouldn't be very large, maybe 40kB or something.

Okay thanks, I think the file from modules.pl is legit then. Also VirusTotal scan history shows the file dating back to 2008-10-31 08:50:34 UTC. Hash matches, filesize matches, and the zipped date is 2007-07-01 so I'm pretty sure that it hasn't been modified.

Sc00p, it's safe to use.

You need to update your "10 years ago", I haven't done it in a while and it's still lagging behind in 2006.
