i can do sunday but not saturday (this week, at least). i don't know what bad movies there are because i have never even seen a movie

ok so tentative 1st movie night based on the (1) availability response that was posted will be Sunday, September 11th at 10PM EST (2AM GMT). If that's too late/early speak up!!!! we can still change the date/time, but I gotta hear ur concerns or everything will go on like this and you won't want that!!!

with the list of movies we have RIGHT NOW, I'd like it if u guys could pick one you'd be interested in watching and I'll tally em up. The one with the most votes will be the movie we watch on Sunday. Time permitting, we may also watch the 2nd most tallied, and maybe even the 3rd though that would be pretty long!!! so maybe just the top two will be played maximum. And then for other movie nights we'll just keep goin down the list.

OK, so the votes so far are making it look like Samurai Cop is going to be the first movie we watch, followed by Ratatoing. Ratatoing is available for free on YouTube so we can easily stream that on plug.dj or rabb.it (I like plug.dj but I also realized video size is awkward on that so maybe we'll go with rabb.it!!! If you've got any suggestions for what YOU think we should use, lemme know!!!!!!!).

Samurai Cop, however, isn't available on Youtube, and also I don't think it's available for free streaming Anywhere, unless you have an Amazon Prime subscription. Because of the YouTube thing, we would probably have to sync that one manually, which I think is fine! PSA, you can rent the movie off of iTunes or Vudu for 3 US bux, or if you have a PlayStation, rent it for 2. (or you can be an IDIOT and rent it for 4 bux off Amazon)

Of course if you can't find the money to rent for some reason I'm sure you can read from somebody else's desk. Anyway that's all for now! See you Sunday!

Next Sunday at the same time would also be good because it coincides with the ending of the 48 hour game jam. I think it'll leave about 6 hours leeway in between the two.

Hey so Movie Night 2 is tonight at 10PM EST (7PM PST, 2AM GMT), based on results the TWO movies will be Samurai Cop 2, followed by "A Talking Cat!?!"!!!! As always, chat for setup will be in #botbmovie, though we'll likely use the chat of whatever website's chatroom (WILL BE rabb.it, unless something goes wrong with it) we use to sync the movies on.

Since The Stuff tied with A Talking Cat (and since we're doing it by ABC order of course), The Stuff will be watched NEXT Movie Night, whenever that is. Possibly next Sunday same time who knows.

A talking cat resurrected movie night after samurai cop 2

I saw Samurai Cop 2 in the theater. It did a pretty good job of trying to be a bad movie on purpose. The cinematography is a little too high on quality. I think it's near impossible to make a cultish bad movie on purpose (ie AVGN the Movie). Even if you cast Steve Wisseau and porn star Lexi Belle. While it misses that mark partially, I have to say it's a pretty awesome tribute to that sort of thing. I wouldn't suggest this movie to anyone who hasn't seen both Samurai Cop and The Room. The entire film is a single inside joke.

I would like to suggest the two following 'bad' movies:

Miami Connection
Killing American Style

Yeah, I think I'm with you there about the trying to make a cultish bad movie on purpose thing. They tried to imitate the seemingly-random transitions from the initial movie with their own absurd cuts that weren't really funny, just confusing. Another thing is, Joe Marshall is nowhere to be seen for like the first 30 minutes due to heavily unwarranted exposition (of which I remember 0 details), and his presence has a lot to do with what made the first movie so great. I think a similar example of imitating a cultish movie, though done with more success, is Kung Fury. It wastes no time and knows which beats to hit along the way.

All that being said there were some genuinely funny moments in Samurai Cop 2, though my favorite ones I don't think were on purpose. But that's what makes cultish bad movies so funny, so maybe they should count as intentional.

We'll take some more suggestions for bad movies up until this Wednesday, then start up another poll for Movie Night 3!

The first movie watched will be The Stuff, but we still have time for voting on what will be the second movie watched that night! Refer to the poll at the top of the thread! As it stands, looks like Karate Dog will be the second movie. But who knows what could happen!!!
