The Sega Genesis aka Megadrive has two primary sound chips.
Yamaha YM2612 5 channel FM and 1 channel FM/PCM
Texas Instruments SN76489 4 channel PSG (Programmable Sound Generator)
The Sega Master System also had the TI SN76489. 3 square channels and a white noise channel.
Both this entry format and the SMS entry format share the .VGM file format.
