  1. Most Taggable Cores
  2. Notable Non-author Cores
While in actual music, for example, "breakcore" means a more insane variation of DnB, BotB uses the suffix "-core" to define an author's trademark style, with all the quirks and details unique to it. Quite a frequent target on the otherwise rare "emulate an X" OHBs. If a memorable word or phrase is used in a song's description or title, it will often be tagged wordcore. Also known generally as "authorcore".

Most Taggable Cores

ameliacore
Traits of ameliacore tend to be extended chord/chord-arp progression and more upbeat instrumentation and composition. Odd time is another trait that pops up sometimes, but is nowhere as prominent as it is in opmcore.

hannacore
Similar to kefcore, but with more jazz infused into the mix. More subversive chord progressions are usually the norm as well, with a good share of sustained chords and augmented/diminished triads going alongside the usual minor and major chords. Also, piano solos.

golgicore
Tends to vary between entries (even if they're still made by goluigi), but most of the time, they're happy, cheerful and random-sampled sondongs, often done in Mario Paint. Rarely, though, it just refers to insanely long and nonsensical titles, see titlecore below.

grumzcore
w.i.p

kefcore (A.K.A. kfaradaycore A.K.A. keffiecore A.K.A. keffcore etc, you get the idea)
Description 1:
I'd like to describe that, but that's entirely impossible for a regular human mind! Wait, you still want it? Well... Let's say that the rhythm here is never consistent, and most of the tones are so atonal they look tonal after all, and the result sounds just as insane as this piece for player pianos
. There, I'm done.
Description 2:
Lots of counterpoint and key changes and phrases that end with hard pitch slide down. throw some just intonation in there. often some clear central motif decorated with fast ornaments. Mixed with other genres no matter if applicable.

kleedercore
The rules listed in kleedercore are not a given, and tracks can break some of said rules, while still being in this core. Track naming in kleedercore often ranges from thought provoking to: "title". Minor chords are often prevalent.Traditional kleedercore involves often utilizing a consistent root note throughout the song entirely, with a likelihood for some arp usage, Kleedercore is most often written in 4/4, and sometimes 3/4 (exceptions do exist). Swing elements can sometimes apply to rhythm. Kleedercore can also be "the great equalizer", when used in conjuncture with ameliacore to create to heavily underlooked "klameliacore", which perfectly balances the quirky chord progressions of ameliacore, with a generally more stable use of harmonies, as a result of kleedercore.

kulcore
w.i.p

nihilismcore
Think Bogdan Raczynski, be Bogdan Raczynski. It's pretty much always IDM/braindance with no limits on what you do with a tracker. Be it using all conceivable effects on everything while still retaining rhythm (not in all cases though), or "make the module look corrupted", or a mix of both. Important recurring element for the style is note-retriggers of all kind!

nullcore
As null1024 himself describes it, "silly octave bass, 4/4 kick,
snares maybe, then randomtrack a lead over it. Now you too can make nullmusic! Also, multi-channel echo on everything but the drums."
That, and the melody tends to get more complicated as the track progresses.

opmcore
Usually does odd time signatures for his entries. Extended chords, short wide vibrato and slow pitch bends usually at the start of phrases. Often uses a lead with a high frequency multiplier. Prominent basslines and drum patterns and the like, as well as a good amount of Sonic influence. That also happens to mean FM Synth whenever possible, and good FM Synth at that.

sammiecore
Consists of a simple chord base that isn't afraid to branch out cool turns. Drums are laid in a more conventional rhythm. Leads are very recognizable, nearly always uses the blues- and/or minor-scale with characteristic turns. The bass is very prominent and funky, often counters as a "bass-lead" -- mixing signature turns with funk swing. Chords often take a brass section-like quality, with arps being quite common. Instruments are most of the time samples and chips, since the style is most commonly used in her tracking, though there is one midi-entry using the style. Was originally known as wvlcore, and still is by the side of the current tag.

strobecore
Breakcore with half-robotic, half-harmonic melodies (the proportions might vary on different tracks), which is taken over by less than a minute of chaotic percussion. Usually uses overclocking to achieve cool effects, and often uses arps with puleswidth modulation. Also, often in minor key. Tends to not sound like any other entry in the format strobecore occurs. Any format. Oh, and so you know, it sometimes features fakeouts. Also known as "THIS IS BY STROB" and "wafflecore" and "waffles" oh my.

svetcore
Basically, everything Svetlana makes sounds like really oldschool demomusic (be it by Commodore 64's standarts, or by Amiga's, or by ZX Spectrum's), complete with the simple chord progressions, melodic/randomly-melodic leads and (in case it's a chiptune) lots of background arps!

taylecore
Take Heosphoros's songs, put them on crack, plague them with roboenza and you get taylecore. In other words, taylecore is chipmetal that tends to be really loud and feature several elements of techno. Tends to sound less rich during the OHBs. So far, the best specimen were heard as NSFs and AYMs.

tildecore
Songs in this category tend to be Fire. Tildecore songs, while being Lit, can also be Based as well. That said, it's easy to think that a sound with that kind of profile can't be Dope, but that isn't the case; they usually work in elements of Good while also being Pog. It's important to know that tildecore originally started with a Sweet-Ass style before transitioning to more of a Hella sound, while still retaining its Dank vibes. If you're unsure whether a song counts as tildecore, ask yourself: Is it Cringe? If so, you're likely confusing it with something else; but if it's Epic, it's unmistakably part of the style.

yomarucore
Also known somewhat as "trending". The only real way to describe this core is...overwhelmingly cutesy? A very vast majority of his entries are inspired by children's media, to the point of sounding as if it was composed specifically for that purpose. He also tends to resubmit entries, especially visuals.

zancore
very cool and nice.

Notable Non-author Cores

botbrcore
Woah, you drew another BotBr! That's really nice of you to do! :D
Originally this was known as 'avatarcore' before 2020.

cancore
The entry sounds soooo average it deserves a place somewhere in the middle of the OHB results chart. As a matter of fact, it gets a Tincan and hence the song's tag.

defeatistcore
"oh hai, i suk so much so plz vot this 4 ze last plays kthxbai! =DDD"

descriptioncore
Sometimes, instead of writing one sentence on what they feel, BotBrs tend to spawn whole essays on their major entries! KungFuFurby's entries are notable examples.

musescore
No, actually no.
Very funny.

penaltycore
Penaltycore entries are entries with abysmal scores and net losses in experience due to the late penalty. Some of them are due to resubmits, creating the subcore resubmitcore; others underflow into negative numbers, netting the other subcore of negativecore.

titlecore
It's so long it just barely fits your whole monitor. :c
alternatively, the entry title is so good that the entry doesn't matter anymore.

wafflecore
Anything having to do remotely with waffles. However, this is mostly synonymous with the strobecore tag.

ohbcore
There was plenty 'o time but somebody decided to do the nerve wracking option to make a major battle entry in an hour :D
