as far as i am aware (and the lyceum), the only way to make music for this chip (that exports to either .m, .m2, .s98 or .zip which would make it legal for pc-x801) is Professional Music Driver (unless Bamboo Tracker has some hidden support for this or smth)

and PMD uses mml...
:| (i'd rather not learn mml)

(i know furnace has support for the chip but it only has vgm export, not any of the other formats i just mentioned :Ɛ )

i really find this a very cool chip tbh, so i wanna be able to make (botb legal) entries for it.

anyone know any?

theres also a dmf2mml converter, so you only have to learn mml basics to fix the converted file

also also i know you already said you didn't want to learn mml but pedipanol does have a tremendous guide on learning mml with a huge section on pmd specifically https://mml-guide.readthedocs.io/

didn't VGMMM support this? Or TFM music maker maybe

i seem to recall that instead of having ym2612 emulated they just stuck 2 x some other yamaha chip that had 3 channels of FM and thought that it might have been this one

Bambootracker can export .S98 in OPN mode.

I don't remember if there's a setting to only use OPN channels, but if you only use those it'll be 99.99999999% compatible (save for specific internal clock speed things that mostly don't matter but if you ask a hardware nerd they'll annoy you about how it does)

I had 0 clue bamboo tracker had support for ym2203, and that s98 allowed ym22203

(but I mean like, it's buried in the fucing EXPORT (which I only just learnt)
