the weirdest eating quirk of mine that i can think of is that i eat pretty much all candies like hard candy, just letting it dissolve in my mouth over time. it is especially fun with things that have shells, like m&ms, choco covered nuts, or those hello panda/koala's march guys with wafer exterior and sweet filling. peppermint bark, which just leaves you with peppermint pieces at the end! but i even eat pieces of chocolate this way. that way i can savor the flavor of a single piece and not feel compelled to eat more

edit: oh yeah it's fun to eat oreos and similar cookies-with-filling this way as well

Off the top of my head, I used to eat the fillings of cookies before the rest, as a kid.

i eat food with my mouth as fast as is comfortable

before eating with chopsticks they must be tapped together a few times in your hand as a test, this is crucial

i only do the dissolving thing with sour candies. i usually can only take them 1 at a time

also excuse me PRINCESS, i only do this stuff for all small stuff in general, like gum or 대추 or grapes. not takis btw, they go in like firewood

When eating a chocolate-covered candy bar, I like to nibble, scrape, and eat the chocolate coating off with my teeth, and then sample the filling on its own.
I do this with pizza crust sometimes too: gnaw and enjoy the outer crust, then evaluate the fluffy crumb on its own

i like eating cottage cheese with my pasta, no matter what sauce is on the pasta. in the same bite

pretzels are one of the best things to do that with. i don't do it as much since i was a kid but hell yea leftover pretzel salt

this reminds me of when i went on a little movie date in high school,, the girl i was with put so much salt onto the popcorn that it looked like a thick layer of snow.. i thought all americans were like this and it genuinely freaked me the hell out

while we are at it, i hate salted popcorn so much. it feels like "how to ruin a movie" when i go to a cinema which only has saltened popcorn.

I like to experiment things when I prepare meals for myself but I am not a great cook at all... For now my worst tasting failed experiments are:
- a sandwich with rosette (a kind of saucisson) and a whole apple
- cooked rice that I let for a night in the fridge in a tupperware with instant coffee powder
- tabbouleh from the convenience store that I mixed with a raw pepper bell and a big green chili pepper

Rn I'm having takeout ramen, and I add rice by the side.

I also did the same thing when eating meatballs. Ain't stuffed without it.

well, in my case it's more like, I don't really feel satisfied unless I use both sides of my mouth to chew equally, if I end up chewing more bites with one side than the other it feels like I didn't finish eating, for some reason? aren't brains fun (ffs)

also if I told Chinese people about my noodle sauce practices I might get a few weird looks I bet. lol

it's good that you mentioned the salted seaweed lavers snack mioh.. I follow a very strict procedure when eating these things

- this must come after everything else in a meal, but before dessert if any. a good savory palate cleanser.
- I must get about half a bowl of rice
- (assuming the pack has 10 lavers) I eat the first 8 pieces by rolling them up with a bit of rice inside, like tiny kimbab rolls (being careful not to use too much rice per roll)
- Before I get to the last 2 pieces, I roll up a rice ball and run it over the bowl as well as the container of seaweed to suck up all the crumbs and salt, and I eat that rice ball. It is lightly flavored and wholesome.
- Then the last 2 pieces form a "seaweed sandwich" with a layer of rice in the middle. This would have a much higher seaweed to rice ratio than the individual rolls and, by virtue of coming after the more plain/lightly flavored rice ball, offers a burst of savoriness mediated by the rice layer that perfectly wraps up a meal.

something about putting "seaweed sandwich" in quotes is wounding me, thank you for your insight. I may try the Doc Method next time I am lavering it up.

Also to be CRYSTAL CLEAR, i do NOT like super salty food (except anchovies and if you hate those you are purely wrong, I won't even hear your opinion on this because literally 100% of the people who have told me this but gave it another try at my behest, hoping to prove me wrong, have changed their mind and apologized to me). I just like the pretzel salt specifically!!!

oh my god doc. i keep forgetting that anchovies are english for the lil tasty guys. i swore for most of my life that anchovies were a completely different fish from myeolchi. i wld eat it if offered in korean and wld refuse it if offered in english, like wtf is "anchovy" it sounds so ugly
