doesnt seem like people wanted html5 tho, ...
you get what you want #8 was a boonloss (with only one entry).
quoting the rule #3 "if we have a boonloss ohb, the series is over", this series is now over.
very sorry for all people who suggested formats for later dates. if someone else wanna host them, feel free to do it, but my job here is done.

thanks to everyone for suggesting formats, thanks to tilde for suggesting the format that ended the series.
the idea of the series was to motivate people to try out new formats to keep the series running, so that their own format will show up at some point.

i came up with a "reward system" even if its just boons again.
everyone whose battle already happend is getting (b56 * amount of successful weeks)

fear not tho, i had a way better battle series idea in mind and im currently figuring out how to make it cool.

edit: oh right, link to old thread, with the full list of suggestions

I'm gonna be blunt here: the whole "series ends on boonloss" self-destruct clause was kind of a bullshit rule in the first place. It's a real groin-kick to everyone who posted after Tilde that they don't get a shot at their format 'cause someone threw out a super-niche, very-difficult suggestion (creating an entire website/page/whatever in an hour is crazy-difficult).

Hoping the new series makes up for it -- maybe it'll be something cooler and better anyway, so long as it doesn't try and pull anything similar.

i would be willing to help continue the series but i'd rather not do it every week, especially since it's not ideal for me to host because i host another weekly series later in the day on Fridays. (meaning i can't schedule it as far in advance)

anyone wanna share duties on continuing it? we could alternate, or take months, or something?

The solution to xaser's gripe is to put your own boons on the line

xaser: yes, and thats exactly what i wanted. it was the most important rule!
the concept of the series was "participate in the battles so that your format can show up as well".
stop complaining about a thing if
1) it was well explained from the beginning
2) every single user here had the chance to submit something. complaining about difficulty is pointless because just trying stuff out and submitting anything wouldve been enough. it wasnt about quality of entries, it was about the interest of keeping the series alive.

"It's a real groin-kick to everyone who posted after Tilde that they don't get a shot at their format 'cause someone threw out a super-niche, very-difficult suggestion"
its not, if you want ur format to show up - participate in other battles.
this was supposed to be a group effort, not a "i want THIS and i DONT CARE AT ALL about other stuff", well you see where this leads to. ;D

PS: the new series will try something similar. WHOOPS

Sorry, but if that was the entire "point" of the series, that makes it even worse IMO. BotB is supposed to be a "let's have fun and chill, even during competitions" kinda place, and having the entire motivation behind a compo being "you'd better participate or else you will ruin the party for everyone" completely violates the spirit. People should be encouraged to contribute because they want to and it's fun, not because they feel like Bad Things(tm) will happen if they don't.

If the next series does something in the same vein, I'd urge people not to contribute -- it's setting a bad precedent.

its a valid point and i understand your arguments here.
people are totally free to do whatever they want in the end.

again, the whole "ruleset" or concept rather, was public right from the beginning, so everyone who decided to suggest something, shouldve been aware of the rules and therefore helped the series to exist. without suggestions, there wouldve been no series.

if i start the next series, and noone wants to participate, it will simply not happen. im just trying out some things that are different from the ""classic"" botb approach. depending on how well something works, it has a chance to come back or not. the advent calendar for example is a series that was very successful.

everyone, including you, is free to ignore everything related to these ideas if they dislike it for similar reasons and i will come up with other stuff next time.

oh right, in the end, the fun was obviously the main reason why i did this. the result shows that this exact idea didnt work as expected and therefore wont return.
