It's the difference between 80 minutes or 2 hours and 40 minutes. Is that overkill? Because, while trying to put together the WC6 compilation, I've come up with a playlist that is almost 3 hours long. Trimming down for two CDs is not that hard, but cutting to make the 80 minute limit is going to very difficult. Right now, I've got a list of 74 tracks (out of the 183), which is still less than half. I think the 2 CDs would do a great job of showcasing the BotB community. On the other hand, how many people think that's just too damn much chiptunawgez?!?!

Spit me some comments! :D/

What is this "too damn much" nonsense? Two CDs is just right.

Oh, we want cassettes now? I've got a friend with a cassette tape only label. I'd bet he'd be willing to back this! He even gets them custom length. Do I just glue two cases together?!?!? :D

I say we release it in both CD and casette form (unless your friend is more comfortable with exclusivity with his label). Maybe you could hire one of those 8-bit visualizer people and also release it on hypnotizing VHS and DVD (again, if no conflicts arise)!!

The only way a CD would be cool is if the disc opened up as some LiveCD with a warez/keygen-like player for the MP3s or had an autorun.ini for a doze app that Wine could access for Linux or some jazz. Perhaps athaudia or another *nix programmer may be interested.

That would be mad dope to have the LiveCD shiznizz! If anyone is interested in authoring such a thing please let me know. :D

I'm looking at the following CD cases --
http://www.checkoutstore.com/STANDARD-Clear-Double-CD-Jewel-Case-p/clrjwcased.htm
I'll be producing this by hand with crappy text thermal printed silvertop CD-R's, full color xerox 2-sided inserts (maybe b&w on inside).

I haven't talked to my buddy yet about the cassettes. But he acquired some investors and then his few artists haven't given him a release. I'm sure he'll be down.

It would be awesome to have this available at BlipFest come May.

Maaan, I wish I still had my tape player [or had money to buy anything at all], I'd totally get this on tape. Much cooler than on CD :DDD

Back to the original question, I'd much prefer the entire catalog sent in for WC6, as with any other major battle on the site. So two CDs, instead of cutting down.

Regarding showcase, a compilation of the best tracks (top 10 first places, winners of a category during botb's life, an user's entire catalog, etc) botb could put that release and then cut down on the music by the artist/s chosen. I do have a cassete player, and listening chiptunes on such a device would be funny and fun. Reminds me a comment made ot me by a demoscener, of a girl that listened demoscene music on a walkman back in 1995, tehe :D

Back to the second question, "On the other hand, how many people think that's just too damn much chiptunawgez?!?!" I just have one thing to say, it's NEVER too much chiptunawgez, in which case I'd say MAN UP, and even GIRL UP =o

PS: botb liveCD? yay! XDDD I like that, a compo for visuals??? that'd make an excellent presentation for any curriculum peoples =o

Maybe each battler should choose what they think is the best tune they submitted and each battler should have one track on the CD. Personally I never want to listen to ALL of that ever again.

If we're going by sc's idea, my favourite entry was "bus ride" (SMS VGM). With that said, I quite like my other two entries, too (yes, even the .nsf :D), so I'm totally keen on the 2 CD idea.

Waiting for all BotBrs to provide input won't be productive or easy. I say puke7 picks all entries according to his discretion.

The first disc/tape is done and uploaded to bandcamp (but still not public). The second disc/tape is 95% done. I still have to layout the inserts for both the CD and Cassette inserts.

The CDs will be manufactured by yours truly and the Cassettes will be done by Epic Fail Compact Cassettes
. :D Both physical versions will be available through a certain online store . . . or teh digital version from bandcamp.
