To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Friki markup. But I would like to at least improve on what it can do. It seems we can only make Lyceum links, bold text, or post links. But could we add italics and underlining?

Also, just so that I don't have to go to the Lyceum every time I want to post a link or bold text, could we add some sort of formatting toolbar at the top of the comment editor? I think it would be a welcome addition!

Please and thanks.

Now we need COLOR!! :D '[c[RRGGBB]'[\c] anyone?

And we also could use the toolbar when we edit our posts.

EDIT: Superscripts and subscripts would make this complete! =D

puke7, I think "link" in the toolbox is broken. Isn't link l instead of a? xD

Link is an l and not an a!

added strike super and sub scripts

Firki Toolbox buttons now toggle the open/close markups. You can highlight text and then format it with the buttons too.

Don't mean to get on your back again, but lists would be really nice.

Upon editing the Lyceum a bit I thought of some possibilities to make the Lyceum more useful.

Would it be possible to add a branching scheme to Firki? For example, on the Lyceum home it would be nice to have extendable/retractable [+] / [-] buttons for the topics in a tree-like fashion that are able to extend from the trunk or parent topic. Would even be neat if the content of the topic or subtopic is displayed.

Some basic rules might be good to set in place as well. Such as: Only one or two trunks can be open at one time (if necessary). Also because some of the branch topics may be very large to have only one or two branches open at once.

This also might be a command undesired for forum posts.

Comments?

In webdesign, when you can only extend one 'branch' at a time, they call that the accordion effect. The firki parser runs recursively; so embedding collapsable objects inside each other would work (but it would need implementation first).

also...
  • does
  • this
  • work

Could the toolbar appear when creating a new thread, and when editing the Lyceum? If you ever decide to allow Friki in profiles again (that's been gone as of recent), it'd be nice to have it there, too.
