I'm New To ZXBeep

You've caught an OHB dedicated to zxbeep (format), but has never exploited ZX Spectrum beeper before? You're welcome to be helped! \ ^_^ /

First off, you've got to download Beepola here
- it's a pretty popular zxbeep tracker used to create 1-bit two-channel songs (not counting the drum channel).

There's no uniform sound for the ZX Spectrum's beeper - there's way too much sounds to squeeze off it, hence why there's a huge choice of beeper sound engines! ^,^ However, for your first track, you're gonna need only one of these - Special FX, which is set every time you open Beepola.

To give you a general idea of what you're dealing with, here's the kicker. The fuzzy sound on both tone channels eventually fades to silence - which both sounds nice and avoids you from dealing some serious earrape on incredibly long notes. However, there's also the Sustain parameter - the higher the value, the slower the note is gonna fade out.

Also, note that channel 2 sounds louder than channel 1 - so you might place basslines on the latter and leads on the former. Also, you might use ch2 for creating a little echo effect.

The note range is G-1 to A-5, but you better not go farther than the 4th octave - that also prevents earrape. ^,- Oh, and don't worry on not having C-1 and everything slightly higher than C-1 - the second octave is basically perfect for the bass.

Once you're done placing notes, patterns and drums, go into Tools -> Compile Song... and save the song in the .tap format - so Beepola's gonna generate a ZX Spectrum tape image with your new creation. Then you're pretty much ready to upload it to BotB.

Congratz, your first zxbeep is now complete! \ ^_^ /
