I don't know how common these kinds of majors are, but I don't think since I've joined the site that I have seen any in progress. And by that I mean like the Detroit VIII major where the samples are made by BotBrs and then voted on and then you have 48 hours to write a song.

It makes the compo a lot more personal to the BotB community and I think that's really cool. And a lot more BotBrs have joined in the past couple years that were not exposed to this sort of major before either so it would be interesting to see what kind of entries we get now!

But beside that I agree with your opinion ;)

I only chose this venue because I saw that the Autumn Jams suggestion, as well as a suggestion for another kind of major, were both in this forum. I almost made a bulletin but I am unsure of myself sometimes.

Yeah, I really enjoyed Detroit VIII (the first one I had a chance to submit to). That series of battles was a brilliant idea which was the genesis of the BotB that we know and love!

I said all that to say this: I would very much like to see this tradition continue for all the reasons commandycan mentioned in the OP.

So far, Detroit VIII is the only one that I've had the chance to review samples, and I have never submitted a sample before (I have recordings straight off of the furbies that I've used before).

I'm tempted to perform some Garage Band and/or VST magic and submit those. I do have a sample produced in Garage Band that's one-of-a-kind.
