hung out with a former bandmate/co-worker who moved out west but is visiting, and we got Sicilian pizza today from a well-regarded spot for such.
I was reminded that it seems to be extremely uncommon in America outside of the NY/NJ to be able to get that style at all.

Cut in rectangles or squares, quite thick dough, usually a layer of provolone (I believe) with a thick sauce on top of that and then pecorino romano on top (possibly ricotta as well sometimes, but I'm not a cheese expert and every place has their own spin). If you're ever in NJ or any other areas that have it, I'd recommend it, especially if that's a new style to you or if your idea of "pizza" is not region or style specific!

i deliver pizza. my brother and i both have a thing for trying pizza from all over the local area and judging it

I like a local place called O4W Pizza (Old Fourth Ward). They used to be located in downtown Atlanta but have since moved to my town. The guy that owns it is from New York so it's in the style of New York pizza (large slices, thin, etc.) It's really good, and my favorite is the Pizza Margherita!

@pizza-chan don't forget the portuguese ones when having opportunity to taste them, i guess you'll love those from alentejo and douro, they are indeed very unique - well, about spanish wines, i had no opportunity to taste a good variety of them, as the few ones i tasted were really terrible, i might be very unlucky for sure (perhaps as bad as their "world widely famous" torrefacto coffee... :D )
