I'm positively surprised my entries scored that high. I even ranked higher than Jangler did last Spring Tracks. (so yeah, by extension, I beat him!!!)
I'm also happy I outclassed my greatest 2012 hit Da Seventies. Although I sort of wish that would've not taken almost 2 years. ;)
I will however argue with mootbooxle here:
"The only time I'm ever disappointed with place is when I spend loads of time on my entry and am trying very hard to win, and I don't place very high."
This (almost) never happens to you moot!!!! :P I feel it's a lot easier to cope with these things when you end up winning a lot of compos regularly. That can't be said about most other people.
Also, pandering to trends isn't a bad thing necessarily. Most of us do this either subconsciously or consciously. ;) I feel a lot more of that happens in the world of commercial/professional music, and I'd go as far as saying it's a completely legit part of being a professional musician.
I actually consider it possible that our very identities and appearance are mostly the end product of pandering to certain trends and popularity. Hmm, maybe I'm getting a bit too philosophical here.... :P
Oh, and there's nothing wrong with being a neurotic, attention-starved people pleaser! There's a bit of that in all of us, and it's good to embrace it sometimes!
