<@BotB> mtajimaches has logged in.
<@BotB> kiyasakashel has logged in.
<@BotB> anagadori has logged in.

I am getting furious at all these undead spammers showing up again and again. ;(

I wish, that when a mummi logs in, no message is sent to IRC through the BotB IRC bot.

#botb will be a much happier place. :)

Yeah, I don't think it should be quiet. We should know when they log in. Perhaps it should say "blahblahblahblah moans in its sarcophagus" for logging in. And "blahblahblah returns to the underworld" when they log out. So we could also check IRC logs for sarcophagus or underworld and know when they are logging in or out, etc.

I like b00daws suggestion better, I don't know IRC that well but is there a way to only show it to ops? that might be a compromise to both parties

Doxic, we don't have any consistent ops there. It wouldn't make sense.

I have a strange idea, but it might just work. "BotB" bot could change its name to "BotB-Announcer" (or something else) when it knows its going to announce a flood of mummies or spambot logins and then afterward it can change its name back to "BotB". That way people that are annoyed can put "BotB-Announcer" on permanent ignore. "/ignore BotB-Announcer"

Is the flooding of spambot logins or mummies that much of an issue at the moment?

in regard to the idea of changing nicks - either the bot would have to cache logins and delay announcements for a few minutes (so it would know when to stay with the alt nick for a while), or it would generate three times the spam every time a mummi logs in or out (change nick, announce, change back). not sure it'd work out...

The easy way would be for puke7 to just check the mummi status of a user that logs in, and not send the message to the bot.

The login message of mummis itself is also of very little use for Ops.
