Wow, very big time and format list right out the gate…

This will help me decide that I will not work on stuff for this until Super Famicompo ends, but rest assured once it does I’ll be ready to cook some stuff here! Hope to at least do SNES and NSF+, and maybe if I’m cool I’ll figure out a midi entry too.

Update- maxYMiser is more powerful than I initially thought. It is definitely in my top 3 favorite trackers. Still learning stuff as I go and I don't want to use Furnace's "AYM" after this as I can understand the instruments more in maxYMiser.

is .aym mandatory / is .vgm allowed in AY category? the lyceum article seems unclear on that. i have a promising sketch in Furnace and not enough time to learn dedicated AY trackers :(

VGM is fine! That's what I use for AY too :D

You have to use the AY-3-8910 system, then in the "chip type" menu you can either stay with the default AY-3-8910 option or choose YM2149(F).

You can use VGMPlay for both playback and render (I'll add it to the lyceum!), you may also be interested in reading the Furnace section of the I Am New To AYM guide

I highly doubt any new formats are dropping, since this contest started with all of the current 22 active and a whole 60 day time window. I'm assuming instead of doing what was done with some other contests where formats are slowly dripped in an an extension is common, this one was set in stone from the outset with no planned bonus formats or extensions (especially on that second one, since 2 months entry +1 month voting is already a quarter of the year, taking up a whole season).

Who knows though? Maybe some surprise formats could be dropped with 2 weeks left, for humor's sake.
