My main interest in this is a byproduct of collabs. When I collab with someone and they submit the entry, I don’t get any alerts for when people comment on it or like it, and I’d like to see those when it shows up, so being able to choose to get alerts for those entries the way I do with my own solo entries would be nice.

I broadened the scope in the post title because I also think of situations where I comment on someone else’s entry with a question, and then never remember to go back and see if they replied, or even recall what entry I left the comment on, so watching an entry to get notified when a comment replies after you would be handy (though you wouldn’t need the like notifications, and then that begs the question of setting up distinctions between watching for like likes vs. comments which might be harder…).

yeah, i generally like the idea of a "subscribe to thread" button. afaik, internally all the different places to post are "threads" with "thread IDs", including profiles and entries, so i could see that being the easiest way to implement it - receive an alert when a subscribed thread ID sees a new post. it already works for comments on battles you've hosted!

i am also definitely in agreement that tagged collaborators on collab entries ought to get alerts about the thing too, but that might actually be tougher to implement altogether, so maybe the subscribe button is the easier answer? 🤔

i think for a long time i was agains this or so, but i like the idea now.
subscribe to random thread and get alerts for new comments posted. maybe make it x boons per subscription (one time payment), because idk it wld be fun

agreed, being part of several collab entries it can be a pain having to manually remember to check it instead of getting a handy dandy little notif.

yeah, this is a good idea. i'm fine with it being a boon fee (maybe b25 is fair), would discourage trolls from following every thread ever just because

I'm not necessarily opposed to a boon fee but idk how someone would troll with that feature. Unless there was a public list of who subscribed, following a bunch of threads doesn't really affect anyone but that user.

I am now receiving a notification every second. Get trolled.
