My problem is a key-delay with any trackers under MS XP Pro , if i push a key, then the sound comes 0,5-1,0 sec. later....there is no way to play some in realtime :-( this sucks !
If i use Fami, Goat, Skale etc. on all progs the same, whats wrong ??

I got XP Pro with all security-updates ( ist a origenal XP ), AMD 3000+ Barton
1024 400MHz DDR Ram
Mainboard MSI K7N2
SBlive! (the first , the real Live! CT4670 i mean)

With Win98 there is no problem, i have test my system with several soundcards under XP like Terratec XFire 1024, Terratec PCI 128 and 2 noname cards, the key delays between the cards as well different...... :-((

I use an ASIO-Card and i've low latency times (4ms-10ms). Skale Tracker supports ASIO-Cards.
i don't know why your cards have so little latency on win98 -> seems like that Winxp are complex. So that's why asio-cards great, they don't use the low databus of xp or so on...

easy. first, use some asio driver: kx drviers or asio4all (working with most soundcards). i`m working with kx drivers + vsmsound2 + impulse tracker = no buffering/latency problems. second, there are many trackers written especially for windos (renoise, modplug, milky, and many others)... :P

Note: Skale tracker is also for Windows (DX) and Linux ;) and at time simply the best tracker [FasttrackerII is the predecessor].

renoise has been running solid for quite awhile now. 5ms latency on a Centrino 1.5ghz laptop as well.

I know reNoise can load Fast Tracker files but I've never seen it save one.

no save of .xm files in renoise. :\ it's a bit strange. i guess the option is easy to implement and might be a great feature for the piece of software.

@vitaxin: honestly, implementing .xm saving in renoise would be a loss of time, there is modplug for that :/

schism is teh dope, though it can crash easily, may ctrl+s be with you.

kaneel, modplug for .xm? try doing something complex in it and compare it to milkytracker/xmplay/ftII to see why people say that modplug's xm support isn't really good ;)

distance: for sure i got the latest version. I got various crashes by doing some random moves like "going down to a sample line where there were no sample and crash" or "save while the song is playing aaand crash".. then i was just saving as much as possible

setro: i dunno, i don't know complex stuff :D
