as i imagine that most of us listened some classic songs from vgmrips.net, and perhaps some of them brings some nostalgic memories, what about sharing each other which ones we used to enjoy mostly, might influence us, have some aspects that we want to experiment or even improve, or even sharing those we think are somehow special in some aspects? the list can be as long as we want, bump later with more ones, etc. - from there, we copy the link of a specific song from the context menu (right-clicking), and pasting it here - what do you all think? so let me start:

- https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/tokio-bubble-bobble#07-name-entry-unused (this song isn't present on the game, but i think it sounds interesting)
- https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/tokio-bubble-bobble#03-main-bgm-dot-shooter (this one was)
- https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/dangar-ufo-robo#dangar-ufo-robo-02-skyscraper (on the arcade machine this song is even played in demo mode)
- https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/rygar-arcade#14-name-entry-1st-place
- https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/xevious-fardraut-saga-msx2-fm-pac#01-title (imho, surprisingly, this ym2413 version sounds more interesting than y8950 version)
- https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/sky-shark-toaplan-1#08-last-fighter-stage-5
- https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/p-47-the-phantom-fighter-mega-system-1#03-area-1
- https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/iron-horse-arcade#04-bgm-1
- https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/nemesis-3-the-eve-of-destruction-msx#08-the-position-light-air-battle
- https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/nemesis-2-msx#01-above-the-horizon-opening-theme

oh god, .. yeah. i love that site

okay so, hitoshi sakimoto. best guy, in the whole world. lots of interesting stuff by him on there.

https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/magical-chase-tg-16#14-waltz-of-meditation-part2-5th-stage-hell-fire

this is just good, but what's up with it being part 2 of a song that doesn't appear in the game? it's on the ost.

https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/magical-chase-tg-16#10-ripple-s-theme-raku-raku-mode-ending

but this is the sleeper hit on that ost, it's so cute, ahahfgkjldfhg i love it. those almost plaintive held notes. aaa

https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/gauntlet-iv-mega-drive-genesis#09-sortie

this just goes hard, and reminds very much of the music he was doing for tactics ogre. he wrote this sound driver too

https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/devilish-mega-drive-genesis#06-stage-3-waterfalls

this whole ost is sick as hell, i'm just picking the most hs-being-hs moment i think.

https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/verytex-mega-drive-genesis#02-act-1-the-void-of-space

i love this song, it's weird cuz the verse melody is a anime pop thing that may not even be hitoshi's, but the beat and chorus goessssss and is also extremely him

okay i'm not just gonna talk about sakimoto.

https://vgmrips.net/packs/playlist/546#10-cruising-line

this is a song that manabu namiki did for the remake of outrun, and i think that it is so damn good. that bass line makes me want to fucking die it's so good. that guy is a huge inspiration for me

https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/namachuukei-68-sharp-x68000

this whole soundtrack is the shit. even the baseball chant parts. i love yuji takenouchi. my personal pick might be "Match End" but there's multiple bangers here. and if you love this there's some more on Golfing Greats 2, which he did with junya nakano

https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/soldam-jaleco-mega-system-1

all the isemura songs on this are incredible.

https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/neo-turf-masters-neo-geo

some excellent Hiya! jams here

https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/time-trax-prototype-mega-drive-genesis

was just listening to this last week, it's maybe my fave tim follin? idk, it's cool

Gradius II: Gofer no Yabou is maybe my fave shmup ost.. so much konami kukeiha stuff to absorb on there, and then ofc there's the falcom ppl, and june chikuma's classic bomberman stuffs, i could go on and on about all the good and readily available music on that site, since all the classics on multiple platforms are present, so i will stop for now. it's a good web site

i forgot this one, i think everyone here remember @MelonadeM complaining that we cant do anything interesting on sn76489... https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/mr-goemon#mr-goemon-02-stage-1

@Bravoman i'm still looking for who was the first musician that used arp-effects (that im admittedly not a fan... xD ) which songs are or could be ripped in vgm format (so im excluding c64 for now, and excluding all songs from the demoscene either) - Manfred Lizner (as you're mentioning), Ben Daglish (Death Wish 3 on msx (those known zx-spectrum "lazy" ports, looks and feels like playing a zx-spectrum game, not msx) was the very first song with arp-effects i listened), Cesar "Gominolas" Astudillo (great one imho), or any other

You'll have to be more clever to capture some of these songs properly.
