my favourite part in this song is definitely around 9:44 to 10:52 (times are approximate i forgot the first timestamp but the tempo was like 163) i also liked the first part of cambrian explosion a bit too

the other parts are cool too i just enjoyed those ones the most, and this is very content filled for a 17:50 (17/50 wow jangler's dream timesig) song and i didn't end up scanning through the song to try to skip a bunch of filler parts (i even end up scanning through some 2 minute songs)

my only criticism is that the mix feels a bit messy in some parts and those parts are a bit busy (i forgot the times of those parts) and i got a bit bored of the usage of instrument 0 (that main fading in instrument) throughout the entire song but that complaint is more minor

also i got totally blueballed originally because i decided to listen to the ftm and i was like wtf[[[[[[[[[[[[ this is not 17:50 so i thought i had an old version of it so i decided to listen to the mp3 version and i was surprised at the sort of out of tune guitar and the singing and the wtf stuff and it was pretty interesting and i should probably end this really long sentence now i haven't used a single period to end a sentence in this entire long statement lol okay so nice job wow and i think this opus is the best one you made you hopeless full romantic!

We sit here alone, you and I. The fire gently glazes this wooded room of ours as you tell me about your day. I'm struck, sitting there as though I cannot believe my own luck. These are the moments. The moments which save me from the nagging abyss I feel dragging itself deep within my chest. This moment with you, becoming ever so hazier as I slip into the vast warmth of it all...slipping further and further away from you, from us. And in the end, there are always two doors. I glance to the right, I see you there in that room.

To the left, there we are under the giant oak tree on a breezy afternoon in the sun. There we are, strolling through the village shopping for a new pair of shoes. We slowly approach the hill and...what's that in the distance?

A FUCKIN SPACE SHUTTLE! PREPARE FOR BLAST OFF!! WHAT!!!

I cry to the heavens, "Hell no! What!!! Who said you could do that?!" and chop off naruto-kun style across the field toward the launch site. They see me coming, spraying a mess of rockets and missiles in my general direction. All I can do is smirk, "Hwehwehwehweh..." and run like sonic 2fast alongside them as they zip past, jumping higher and closer toward the cockpit. The engines ignite, "Get him, aaaaaa SHIT! He's almost made it to the pilots!" as they spray like, 10x more rockets and stuff at me. The shuttle blasts off as I propel myself higher and higher with the aid of their stupid whizzing rockets. It's no use! I've already reached the cockpit losers! Hey, don't blow up your own shuttle, dummies! As we approach the mesosphere, I take one last leap, latching onto the side of the shuttle and jack the pilot all GTA-like. Looking him in the eyes, I say nothing and release him into the freefall back toward earth as he screams, "YOU DDDDIIIIIiiiiiiicccccc--". I take my seat and buckle up for safety as I make my way into the upper atmosphere.

And I've made it into orbit. Everything is so beautiful up here. The earth's curvature greets me solemnly and I can't help but blush a bit. I close my eyes and nod down toward my feet. I don't understand what this is, who I am, where I'm going, how I got here. Lifting my head toward the window, I open my eyes once more to discover myself gliding over an array of golden mesas. I don't know how this is happening, but somewhere in the back of mind there's a whisper, "You are the observer..." I pass over forests and plains, mountains and jungles. I can see all of them down there, looking back up at me in wonder and amazement - scattered collections of humanity, calling out to me in hunger and fear.

I begin to hear a workers' march as I pass over the Euphrates. Down below, city-states war on and dispute over territory. Civilizations cry out to their gods for blessings and favor, everyone slowly rising up from the mud and the muck. Somewhere within a distant Parthenon, Socrates debates the evolved relativistic consequences of logic and reasoning. I can feel it, I can hear them thinking. I can smell their newly acquired toils. The face of the planet begins to grow dark, yet my ship will have no more of it.

I'm jostled about, my brain violently rattling around in its socket. All I see before me are blinding pressures daring me to turn away. I let out a scream, save me! Someone! Anyone! Take me away from here!

I'm alone. All is dark. I am cold, it's a bit clammy...where am I? Light returns to me as I find myself in the middle of an arching portal. Between the columns, I can hear them chanting in unison. I am exhausted. I give out and collapse onto my back and stare up at the mesmerizing archivolts looming overhead. Although I know not where I am, the cleansing pool of peace begins to wash over my aching eyelids. I fall into a deep sleep...

There we are back at the village again. We continue to walk hand in hand as everyone waves happily. Something is...wrong here. What-

SHIT! AAAAWHAT?! This heat. This turbulence. I'm still escaping orbit? It was all, a dream? No! Where is she? Where am I?

I continue to blast away from the grasp of gravitational pull and this persistent cascade of poorly aimed rockets. And...I have made it...I have escaped. But what have...I escaped? My course is set. I drift toward the milky orb waiting in the distance. I left it all behind, left it all to the others, to be consumed by our collectively insatiable palates of greed and selfishness. I finally let go, of everything...to accept whatever fate has in store for me up ahead.

The horizon begins to fill with the bright, cratered glow I've slowly come to fear. I look on in anxious anticipation as...the giant floating head of Flaminglog turns around to summarize the postulated propositions set forth by these recent chain of events.

My half-asleep self misread the title as "Opus Vs. Observer" just now. I hope my headphones don't try and punch me in the face.

this isn't me complaining about anything. i'm just saying i'm gonna go in a new direction with my music following this. i think i've thoroughly explored the possibilities of these megasongs, and it's time i try going the other way with it, into microsong territory. like, what happens if you invest a month in something that's half a minute long? what is the theoretical limit to how good that thirty seconds can sound? i'm taking a journey into the cold frozen mountains of siberia and emerging with the technical skills and ear to craft this theoretical perfect half-minute.
