PSA for those who entering mod8k: The latest version of OpenMPT (1.26.09.00, at least the one I have) saves the useless blank data to the .it file regardless if it's a compatibility export. This results in a 5KB file on a blank .it module. ^{^{^{Also, please don't use munch.py}}}

Edit: I think it has something to do with "embed macro configuration when saving" checkbox which I couldn't uncheck it in my OpenMPT somehow.

to be 100% fair to my lame friends, one does not simply jump 100% into botb and tracker madness immediately. i expect that my friends would be more interested if they could ease in slowly, first by doing allgear to see what it's all about, and then moving on to other formats.

i'm not trying to be critical or anything; botb is an awesome place and i highly respect it. however at times it seems like it is difficult to understand for outsiders, and people who aren't as into tracking (who may have ended up being interested if only they could have been eased in!).

i'm not sure if botb being difficult to get into is your intent or not. either way, like i said, i fully respect you and this site. though, tbh, it does make me a bit sad that there is this kinda cool and magical place that a lot of people will not be able to understand or experience. botb is legitimately my favorite music community on the internet, so i find it sad that it's hard to share it with others.

KFF: Have you tried building the latest version from source? That's how I'm running it on my machine, though it's a slightly more involved process. IIRC you have to get and build the klystron repo first before you build the klystrack repo, and when you run it you have to make sure you have the res/ files in the right place.

@Jangler - For instrument editor at least, I've discovered up/down scrolls through parameters and left/right changes the parameters (even for the check boxes, lol...). Not the most intuitive setup, though it is sort of there at least. In the pattern editor, page up/down/home/end works for skipping through the pattern.

Ah! I got a Deflemask entry in. YM2151 is sexy :). Also, yes if VGMM's .vge format actually becomes a thing I will make something that specifically exploits the hell out of its' inaccuracies :D. Abuse the weird SSG-EG, take down global volume so I can use overly distorted TL instruments, maybe even make a custom over clocked tempo because holy shit VGMM is my jam. Some may think that having both Deflemask and VGMM in the same compo is redundant but trust me it isn't. It has its' own quirks and workflow and if you can exploit it for its' own strangeness rather than worrying about if it will play back a VGM properly...well I dare say you'll have yourself an interesting FM-chip tracker variant I reckon :D.
