It's never to soon to plan something like this. I've mentioned it in years past, but how could we overlook our 10th birthday which will be in May of 2015. So where will we be doing this thing? That's a good question!

Obviously, Ann Arbor is an ideal place but wouldn't it be great if we met up in somewhere in Europe too? I think a town/city in merry old England is rather obvious. Having a 3rd meetup in Sweden or Germany isn't totally overkill, but probably is.

Please add your current living location (or where you think you'll be in May) to MKSTAR's map to help us decide where's the best place for this! https://mapsengine.google.com/map/u/0/edit?mid=zbKqEjHoHW7Q.kOKeG-7KSmdo

I'm actually curious whatever happened to the first three Ann Arbor compos. The archive starts with Ann Arbor IV.

afaik they were compos in real life - a tape with all the samples would be put in one location, the entrants would get the samps, and then a few days later they'd turn up at some other location and play the tracks

That makes this website an extension of Ann Arbor... at least at first sight. Although it's grown to be much more than Ann Arbor.

The first ep of the BotB podcast reveals a lot of the backstory, go listen to that :)

I'm around Philly and my marriage month is next May. Might be able to squeeze something in for a visit but weddings are notoriously expensive. We'll see. :)

In April there's the Revision demoparty
in Saarbrücken, Germany which might be a realistic travel destination even from outside Germany. At least I'm going there!

Yeah it's not exactly May but close enough :)

If we meet up at Ann Arbor it'd be like closing the circle of BotB history. The start location of BotB closes 10 years of its life! But then we're building around that anyway to close a bigger circle around that one 10 years later. BotB is forever.

Also, we should meet up inside of Puke's beard, that's a good idea. Easy for me to come there. ;)

Heh, the unfortunate thing is that I'm not in a spot where I can easily travel (yay money), despite being the geographically closest to puke (so far). Welpo. xD

Then again, I'm a newcomer so I'm less of the intended audience here. Still would be fun to see if it's possible to scrape something up, though... any proper excuse to go to Europe would be a welcome thing. :D

The idea of hosting at Ann Arbor is heartwarming and symbolic, but wouldn't it be best to make a decision that would better maximize BotBr turnout? This would mean picking a location where the most BotBrs could travel the least amount of miles.

In the US, it looks like about 60 percent of BotBrs live out in the northeast somewhere(I'm counting NC), so probably hosting in Baltimore/DC, Philly or New York would be a good choice. Because:

-A northeasterner(~60%) would have to travel ~400-600 miles to get to Na'arbor, but ~200-400 to get to some location in the aforementioned cities/areas. It also welcomes driving instead of flying, which likely means less money spent.

-For the rest of us ~40%rs, it's about a 300 mile difference between Na'arbor and some spot toward the coast. We would likely have to take a plane to get to Na'arbor anyway, so really what's a ~300 mile difference with a plane?

I have worked tirelessly through the nite in order to calculate the utility with utmost precision, here is my chart: https://www.dropbox.com/s/23jnnkf3b4vtrmo/happyhappy.png?dl=0
