Or, if we somehow turn hosting OHBs into a privilege as well as a right, which is the direction this place took when puke implemented the badge system...
See, the badge system pretty much fails as a security measure, but it does succeed at making the place more RPG. A consequence of that is that people can't host whatever format they want whenever they want, which is what you want more admins for. If we needed more admins solely so that any format could be hosted at any time, we'd nix the badge system entirely(by the way, kfay, it was a system you were in favor of implementing, claiming it would give users more to shoot for; this is what it costs).
so: I had an idea I posted in IRC that would be long-term, only take two or three headaches to implement, and kill three birds with one stone.
[03:35:24] <Tilde> A merchant appears!! o__o;
[03:35:35] <Tilde> "Got somethin' that might interest ya."
[03:35:57] <Tilde> - NSFplus token [60b]
[03:36:27] <Tilde> - VIC20 token [50b]
[03:36:47] <Tilde> - Pixel token [50b]
[03:36:55] <Tilde> "That's all I got, shortcakes!"
[03:38:10] <Tilde> It's already an rpg, it's just lacking that crucial thing to spend boonz on.
[03:38:26] <Tilde> And the tokens will go in your Itemtory below the main header, nice and small.
[03:43:29] <Tilde> If you're worried about compulsive refreshers, you can make it so that such merchants only have a chance of appearing once per every OHB done.
[03:45:45] <Tilde> That is, once an OHB is finished, there is an n% chance that you will immediately be confronted by a merchant willing to sell you a selection of format tokens. Spending that token in your Itemtory allows you to host an OHB you don't have a badge for, just once.
