I was confused why there was only 100 formats despite the site having 108, but I think I've made sense of it now:
-0cc and adlib are missing for obvious reasons, since they're retired
-sample is missing since "covering something as a sample" is just hard to wrap one's head around
-gbstudio is missing since the major that introduced it didn't conclude until after the May 11th cutoff for the contest
-(also works out that both the newest and (i think) the oldest format are missing with gbstudio and sample)
-all 4 "battleart" formats are missing, since there's no battle art to make

@RevvoBolt I was also surprised to find myself on the cover, but quickly realized the pattern. Each of the 10 rows is a year, populated by the 10 highest-level users that joined in that year. More obvious instances of this are kleeder being at the far left of the 2017-2018 row and damifortune being at the far left of the 2020-2021 row. Which I guess means I'm the second most leveled-up user of the past year? That's... kind of surprising, given that I haven't been nearly as active as some others.

OK. I've only seen one entry period that long before that I can recall... from the first Decadent Decade. And I don't think I'll be rebooting any of my abandoned entries over there either.

Also, admittedly I gradually stopped listening to a lot of these entries due to the sheer volume of music... though it just so happens there's an artist out there that I got curious about once I saw this. No, not the unspeakable one. Someone else... someone that I remember from over 10 years ago that made an entry past the cutoff date.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure even if someone wanted to reboot their own entries it's not allowed for this contest? Or at least is against the spirit of it, from what I gathered when I polled some of the community members about it. I believe the reasoning behind that is because you can always reboot your own music without it being a cover, whereas this is a rare chance to reboot other people's music as a form of appreciation, and using this contest just to polish your own work kind of defeats the purpose.

In my case specifically, if it weren't for the cutoff entry ID, I would have actually attempted to reboot one of my abandoned Decadent Decade entries from the first go round. And I would decline to do one of my own.

...although a cover of a cover is possible. Why? Because the range includes entries from the first Decadent Decade.

Puke mentioned changing formats when doing covers... can I "cover", say, an Allgear or Wildchip entry in Plaintext by writing a story inspired by it and it's title? How far does this concept extend: Can I cover songs with visual? Cover plaintext with songs?

although fairly liberal in interpretation as far as "covers" go, I personally think that would be totally fine, and even kind of exciting to see. I'd lean towards the "being creative" aspect, but I guess it's also worth mentioning that I also think it's cool to be fairly liberal with interpretations of source material, as long as you feel like you understand the ways it's being true to the source. whatever inspires you about the thing should probably inform the cover, right? anyway, just my opinion but sure I totally think you should be able to do that. maybe explain it to voters a bit

What are the rules for the remix format? I saw mentions of these approaches in chat and in the previous decadent decade:

- use multiple mp3 renders from the decade as audio sources to make a cover.
- "remix" an entry by using its render as the only audio source to make an original piece.
- use a remix bitpack from the decade as the only audio source to make a cover.
