so i stumbled across this thing
this week while preparing for my thursday stream and finding a non-ft tracker to try out on my win98 vm. i have immediately fallen in love with it, talked to fellow botbr nicole about it and decided to make this thread requesting it as a format.

dreamstation is dope!! it's basically a synth/sequencer sewn to a tracker and i love it. it has it's own module format (.dss) and instrument format (.dsi), runs on windows versions spanning from 9x to 11, and is free and readily downloadable. i'm actually kinda surprised this wasn't requested yet :o

YESSS this would be super awesome! it's a fun program and it's quite powerful with the built-in synth and effects! and no external modules required like in buzz, plus it's fairly self-explanatory and easy to use! it would be a very good fit for botb imo!!

I am a big fan of all synth-sewn-to-tracker situations, so this sounds cool!

However, is it known whether this will work on non-Windows OS's? Not an issue for me personally, but I remember this being mentioned as an undesirable aspect of Buzz as a format.

really good point brought up here! nothing i saw about dreamstation didn't do much to answer that question. especially given that dreamstation and buzz are both from similar eras, it would make natural sense to at least see if linux could run it

on an installation of fedora 42 running in virtualbox, wine didn't have much of a problem at least playing modules? a few pops here and there, though it might be because virtual addons are a bit screwy on there. take that with a grain of salt, though; this is just one test of what will be multiple. i'll try and do more to verify that dreamstation is actually compatible with non-windows os's but for now, this is what i got. a more complete post with test results should come soon
