At the moment, I am stuck with OpenMPT as my main music program, and because of license clashes, VST3 support doesn't exist and never will, leaving VST2 as the only option. Does anyone here know of any good VST hosts out there I could use to get around this problem?
I'd prefer something that's free and could also be used as a VST2 plugin inside OpenMPT, but if there's still a way to export everything right with an external one that'd be fine too.

Maybe Carla
could be another option? It works well with Renoise for me, I never tried to use it with OpenMPT though

vst3shell ended up working, thanks!
Also, tip for those running OpenMPT in Wine/GE-Proton like me, install the Visual C++ Redistributable (2015-2022) and dxvk (via winetricks), otherwise the UI's of most plugins get frozen.

If I understand the topic correctly, my answer is:
you can try kushview's element vst.
https://kushview.net/element/

I haven't had time to experiment much this but it can host vst3, vl2, clap and vst2 in openmpt

VSTs? who needs those? just sample all your sounds :P

i’ve personally never had much of a need for vst3 plugins, but i was also gonna recommend vst3shell.

To Da Flarf and Yuzu:
Yuzu, joking or not, I do have FL Studio, Signature Bundle in fact. I also have a Windows, many Windows. In fact, my whole life I've had Windows.
My current situation is that my main computer's CPU decided to stop staying cool right, so I'm waiting until I can send it to the manufacturer to get it fixed.
In the meantime, I had to convert my previous computer into a Linux Mint machine, sort of struggling through Lutris and GE-Proton to get everything to work. This hardware has always been not too up to modern standards, so even getting any Windows app to work at all without being unbearably slow like Windows 10 or 11 was on it is already an achievement.
For instance, according to a Steam game
, MIDI doesn't work without using winetricks to get gm.dls, directsound, and dsdmo. Winetricks is a must to get everything to work right, which I never would've found out about if I didn't use Lutris, which allows you to make self-contained Wine instances for each game/app, or as I did it, one for the General stuff (music making) and another for Gaming (mainly for Windows only Steam titles) I still have to set up.

Sorry for the wall of text, I miss my main computer a lot.

Rip Bingies24 PC

It was joking. I could figure out if you have FL Studio Installed, OpenMPT can detect VSTi Versions of FL Studio.
If you select the plugin, The FL Studio launches when Clicking the Fruity Loops Logo and This can loaded default instrument racks. Which FL Studio VSTi Plugin controls MIDI Support.
- MIDI Channel 1 for General Purposes
- Midi Program controls the Channel Rack Number. As controls The VSTis, Samples and Soundfonts.
- MIDI CCs Controls Everything
- This can load FL Stock, VST3, Soundfont and Generator Plugins
- The FL Studio Audio Outputs as VSTi Instrument
