Not the most original thread idea, but I've been growing my module collection lately so I'm in a sharing and listening mood

Leave a track you like and others can reply with recommendations, leaving their own tracks that others still can reply to etc. etc... It doesn't have to be a chain, feel free to just leave a track and not reply, or to reply to whoever you want. Otherwise it might be hard to get this going. Should probably be at least tangentially BotB-related (chipune, tracker music, or at least IDM or DnB, maybe; well, you get the idea...)

If you want you could write little notes or keywords about your tracks and recs to help battlerz who might just be scrolling the thread.

I'll start- Plagiate by Reed

This is one of Reed's relatively small number of straight-up chiptunes in the orginal sense. Not the fanciest stuff, but for my money it's some of the most natural-sounding and perfectly wrought tracker music ever. And did I say funky

First off, I want to know how you put “Plagiate by Reed” as the link instead of putting the url link. Is that botb exclusive? I’ve seen it everywhere here

you can also write the markup yourself - see Firki Markup

plagiate reminds me of some of the demo tracks for the original famitracker - not all that complex but skillfully made, and very catchy

chibi-tech - Love Is Insecurable

this is one of the songs that got me into chiptune in the first place, and to this day it remains one of my favorites; i particularly like the usage of 2a03 pulse to construct lyrics

Love is insecurable and chibi-tech definitely had a huge influence in the way other people sounded at the time. Everyone wanted to sound like her. Maybe a little bit to the detriment of a unique identity that would have otherwise been shown by others. However, even the starting rhythm taught me something at the time - vibrato on the noise channel set to periodic to get sizzling hats is really cool

Speaking of unique, can't get much more "out there on its own, untouchable" than life tree by zan zan zawa veia

Ooh I really like this track; it plays so much with rhythm but makes it really work, great instrument design too

Also speaking of unique, I love demos that make me learn something new about a chip. Traumatized Edgeworth's (or just "Traumatized" as he goes by in the .fur file) "Powerful Sample Generator"
is a first of a series, and it made me learn that the AY-8930 is technically capable of some really cool sampling!

Ah yes, the PSG series! It's fun to mess with the interesting capabilities of chips. One of the later ones used the Konami VRC6, which was surprising as it's usually used as an expansion for the NES, so seeing it capable of playing samples and whatnot on its own was very cool!

Okay, my turn. This has been stuck in my head for the past few weeks, and while I'm sure you all have heard it I'm posting it here because dang this song slaps. Nine One One - Jeroen Tel

@SweatyNoodle Dubmood is the man. Wildly nice sounding use of 32ch. I think his mighty pirate sessions remixes are probably what turned me onto Reed years ago. Which gives me a great excuse to post this

@retrokid104 Tel is a madman, he is truly showing off and humbling us all

@Stupe The song at 11:04 is what showed for me, so I’ll take that one. I like the groove with the modulating pulse width melody, and the drums and bass are very simple to let the melody shine. Very nicely written.

Noise (Memory Pool) - June LaLonde

This whole album is a great ambient/rock experience, but I especially love this song. The intro riff literally lives in my head rent free, and I just love the mixing and filtering on everything.
