for what it's worth, i agree, i liked the high-contrast better. and an option as part of each palette to set background opacity would be the best of both worlds :)

I hear both of you. Opacity (and some other things) could be tied in to the palette for more flexibility. There are a few things I'd like to do with palettes to make them integrate with the over all site better. But right now is not the time for any of that. Once I've moved to Austin in a couple weeks I'll quit being social every free moment that I have and might be able to concentrate on things like this.

'Hate to be so picky and efficiency-core here, but if you're only going to use elmModify once, you can just access setAttribute directly from after retrieving the element:

document.getElementById("pageBG").setAttribute("style", "background: none; " + "padding: 0 10px; ");

I don't know JavaScript that well, but I'm sure you can't chain it up like jQuery. This statement does work, however; parentheses aren't required around document.getElementById() as I thought.
