Now that Summer Chip is coming to a close soon and Winter Chip quite a while away, I thought it would be a good time to have some kind of 4HB to fill the void.
-What would people think of having 4HB compos to help develop individual music portfolios that a developer would be interested in hearing?
-I'm also interested in what would be good examples of typical developer asks and what is something that we should have in a portfolio but is not covered well by OHBs.
-This event is great for people that need a portfolio but are too lazy or not motivated enough to do it on their own (like that nocturne guy).
-Plus, things are always more fun with friendos.
(The following examples may be bad, will likely be open to suggestions if people like this idea. Not sure if we should do focused prompts or more open prompts with a particular direction implied.)
Example 1 -
Format: Wildchip (retro/bit music, modern instruments okay in moderation)
Game Type: Action Platformer
Mood: Lighthearted, fun
Requirements: Loops, sfx on 2nd loop
Description: Tomato Knight game, first level Viney Meadows. Watch out for stingy bee knights.
Example 2 -
Format: Allgear
Game Type: JRPG
Mood: Anxious, loving
Requirements: Loops
Description: Game is called Forgotten Fantasy made on RPG maker, you are writing character music for Darla, the protagonist's 10 year old daughter who is always worried about their parent coming home safely from the war.
Time wise, I was thinking similar to Ultimate Hum on Saturday 11 AM to 3 PM PDT.
