Right now there seem to be two ways to submit a collab to BotB.
1.) Make a new screen name, (e.g. FFandStrobe)
2.) Submit it under one of your names and just mention in the comments the collaboration details (like ShadowScythe and Syniphas).

Wouldn't it be cool if you could see collaborations via all contributing BotBers' profile pages? Then maybe both BotBers could rack up points for the entry. And on the song's page, there could be both party's names and avatars. This might be difficult to implement though.

But as of now, I would never find "Stoned on Mothpowder" if I was looking through strobe's songs.

Along with collab songs, collab points would be interesting.

I'm trying to think the positive and negatives sides of this, hmm, feature request, and other than being cool along what tadpole mentioned, it'd simply help locate coop tunes, and a new way to present songs (more information)

The negative side? Ignoring how difficult it'd be to implement (I guess it is) I couldn't think of one negative aspect. How are points granted then, by halving between the two? Should a new category/point class? I dunno.

It could be somethig like... whoever upload the song. can add soem kind of TAG or ARTIST TAG, so they can boths earn points aswell and when somebody look at the profile it appear the track in a collab tab. In fact they can boths earns points as a collabist, or something like that! XDD.

But... as you said... this might be difficutl to implement, i dont know how the code goes like... but im sure it's not easy at all.... but remember we have puke7 !:DDDDDD i know he can do it! :PPP.... (of course if he have soem domatios aswell!! JAJAJAJAJAJA)....

maybe when somebody submits a track there could be an option to flag as a collab, and then they pick the other artist off a list or something. then it would be pretty awesome if the displayed avatar was split down the middle and the artist names could be stacked tower style. that way it would keep the option open for collab 3-ways or full on collab orgies.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. Then I came here and noticed this thread.

A collab option would be a great idea. Maybe we could create "collab compos", too! That'd be neat!

However, I think the file that's being collab'd should be sent back and forth through the site, and then checked for changes. I have a nagging thought that someone might make an entire song by his/herself and flag other user(s) as their collaber(s). That way, the "collabers" would be getting undeserved points/nubs.

hehe, I like the idea of using the site as a hosting service and for send-recieve back and forth unfinished tracks, and believe such an option would open a new universe of posibilities. Very nice idea. ummm yummy nice.

Collab compos, which we've had but under the name of coop comps (co-operative compos) had happened on the past before (3 times!) you're a n000b! jajajajajXD

Lilly, who hasn't been around much for a while, indeed used to host collab compos on the side. While I agree whole heartedly that this option should exist, BotB has a problem with points being stuck in integer space; Points only go up and down in whole numbers unlike boons. This could be fixed, perhaps, by rotating which collab BotBrs receive the points and boon bonuses. Also, maybe collabs should count as a submission from all contributing BotBrs; If only one entry is allowed for a Battle then all collaborators on an entry would not be allowed to submit one on their own.

Sharing files through BotB has been in the back of my mind. Need to develop an attachment class and bring back private mails. One major pitfall -- BotB's current webhost has an 8mb upload maximum which could make things tricky for remix collabs. Also, hosting these attachments should require a payment in boons and maybe perhaps rent for further hosting?

I wasn't even thinking this was an issue! xD But since I have been working at the bar I've been playing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exquisite_corpse and started dreaming up a version for music compositions where there is a set BPM. Each track would get the last measure of the previous track to launch from.
