Greetings all BotBers.

The Off World Arcade and Bar thinks hosting the BotB meet-up will be awesome.

We can do a Fri-> Sat weekend. BotBers will be able to DJ live at the Arcade and we can do remote sets via the webs.

I told the owner we would submit some possible dates and go from there.

I spoke with Baron and we are thinking May or June, 2018.

Here are three weekends I think would work quite well.

Fri. May 18th - Sun. May20th (this is the weekend before the Detroit Electronic Music Festival: Movement)

Fri. June 6th - Sun. June 8th (this is the weekend after the Detroit Electronic Music Festival: Movement)

Fri. June 20th - Sun. June 22nd. (this is the solstice weekend)

I choose these dates because if people wanted to come in before after the first two weekends, they could also do the electronic festival, if that's their thing. I also checked the Detroit Tigers baseball schedule to make sure they are out of town.

Both Baron and I are open to other dates. However, I will pitch dates next week to the arcade.

If you've ever been in the vicinity of a Stadium in a major city while a Pro Sport team is playing you'd know them 100k+ people are a pain in the ass and they invade all surrounding spaces.

I don't think 100k have ever watched the Tigers intentionally... I'd try to talk my wife into it but I'm not sure traveling will be likely with a 6 month old

Planning this far in advance is a bit of a foreign concept to me, but the plus side of that means I don't yet have anything scheduled that far out.

I'm a couple thousand miles away but I'll be there on spirit. If someone wants to print a paper with my avatar and take it to the meeting that would be freaking awesome.

i'll bring melee for sure, but unless there was more than my setup, we couldn't run a tourney. plus i feel like that'd be too much, just some friendlies here n there will be plenty

Pretty sure we've given up on the venue we've been talking to for many months at this point. We really wanted to give people a large window to make plans around going to this thing. We're 2 months out now which is the minimal amount of time I think is necessary to get the most people out. I'm not sure what to do next.

Regroup. We'll think of something.

It's a hike from Detroit, but Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids is nice. There's also Marvin's in Farmington, if we have Eminem cash.

Hey, it's official, not going to do it this spring at the arcade.... Basically, they didn't have their shit together.

here's my last communication with them...


"The consensus from performers is we need a 6 month window to do the festival properly. As I mentioned, we had planned for chips artists to come in from potentially every continent (sans Africa and Antarctica).

When I got the yes from Don in October, we were on track. However, it's now less than 90 days.

Therefore, we'll have to respectfully decline. "


I'm thinking we should meet up in the fall September or October.

If we pick a weekend now, I should be able to confirm a venue within a few weeks.

Sorry that this has been such a long and ridiculous journey.... but I still absolutely want to do this.
