unwilling favoriting :: BotB Academy

I am unwillingly facoriting my own tunes.
I seem to be clicking to go on my profile and then I get news of a new favorite for my tune, and it's my own self guilty of the deed.

This happened two seperate time.
Is it a bug?

Also, anybody know how to unfavorite a tune?

it happens if you listen to your own songs a lot through the radio

It's a feature! If you listen to any track including your own more than 5 times it's your favorite now

(don't worry we've all done it at least once, haha)

(and nope you can't unfavorite)

jeez!!! makes it look like i'm giving a whole lotta love to myself... while I'm more the kind to self criticize (hence the repeated listenings).

the solution is to just favorite everything you post, that way it's your decision

I always find it funny when someone doesn't get upset that they're doing it, but only get upset that there's evidence of it.

My annoyance re-explained: I understood favoriting as a signal sent to the composer as much as a way to curate a selection of things I like; a conscious act.

Evidence of actually listening to one's song is not an annoyance, it is the favoriting that is offsetting. To view it as a meaningful act was my error.

how to avoid accidental self-fav in 1 simple step:
self-fav intentionally

i love to keep a low profile, thus; find embarassing that someone see i favorited my work ;-;-;-;-;

Just listen to the copy of your entry that's saved on your computer instead of on the site.

or when you're gonna stream tracks, use an incognito window :)

Anytime I try to play a song on Botb from my iPhone, I always end up favoriting it because iPhones are dumb and it somehow seems to rack up multiple plays from one successful instance of me actually getting to hear the track.

if you want to unfavourite your track, just listen to the song backwards, it'll count as negative plays and will unfavourite upon dropping to under 5 listens again

@mootbooxle this is because (I think) that media playing on mobile devices requires chunking of the media which breaks the files into multiple requests. I stole some code of the web to handle this, but it unfortunately counts towards a favorite everytime it loads a chunk. If anyone wants to write this up as a bug I will gladly work on it in the near future.
