should closed-source *.pttune files be allowed for OHB and major submissions?

if not (my opinion) please put up a bork message when n00b tries to upload *.pttune files instead of *.ptcop

i don't think they should, considering it seems out of spirit for the whole site

if it works with pxtone then there's no reason to disallow it
which version should the author upload should be up to his criteria imo, i dont think we should force source upload, but encourage it
besides there are other formats on which closed-source files submission is allowed (although, for those, it's pretty much the only option, but still), and when someone asks for the source the uploader leaves it in the comment section. it could work the same way here, i think.

I have no opinion because PXTone itself is not cross-platform (both source and compiled songs). However, I do have an opinion when the source is not cross-platform while the compiled file is (example: Famitracker and NSF, or .bbsong and .tap/.sna).

I prefer the compiled files myself for this exact reason (and it's also why .bbsong, for a source file, is a bad idea, because there are cross-platform players that can take an exported .bbsong, while .bbsong itself is not cross-platform).

As for a major like Spring Tracks the idea is to share work from inside the trackers. Other than that I do not have a firm stance on this issue. I am tempted to say that an OHB host has the right to declare one or the other or both as the preferred entry file formant if they care to. While it doesn't help in the case of an OHB, the mp3 renders in a major give would-be voters the accessibility they need to vote despite their OS.

For .bbsong and .tap, there's an additional variable that enters the equation though that makes the latter desirable. BotB sticks pretty heavily to the question "will it play on the hardware?," and of the two, only .tap can. For pxtone the question doesn't apply.
