Thanks to our lovely admin who gave us some more time, i was able to stack this pile of pixels and polygoons together.
This is actually an animated picture, in APNG format, and should render well in every Gecko-based browser or IrfanView. Any APNG-incompatible software will just render first frame, so it won't be completely broken in any case.
It's 3D of course, but the rules say that pixelart is merely preferred, and not enforced for cover arts, besides i have a good excuse (xD), since the animation on the screen was done purely in gud ol' pixelist style, in raster graphics editor (the arc above logo was AA'd manually, no rulebreaking here in case someone compulsively examined every point xD).
Basically reinvented and polished my first idea for this cover, turned out quite well, it's probably the first thing i made for BotB i'm really happy with. As for 3D stuff, no premade models were used, all geometry has been modelled from scratch. Powered by Blender, Krita, Aseprite, Micro$uc$$ Paint and APNGASM.

TFW the more times i look at it i still keep noticing small details i could do better, like i could give the back side of the rotating logo a darker color tone, to make it look more convincing, and maybe even a some kind of shadow...
Also the wallpaper would look better if tinted slightly reddish, but i'm always getting picky on things i made, no matter how happy i am with them initially =D

OK so first off I looove the models, and the toon shading gives this a totally epic, polished look. Great lighting, clean textures, this is great! This really makes me want to get into Blender. BTW if you ever want to get any of the autodesk products for free, just go to: http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/featured
and I believe there aren't any checks, so you can just put a school and it will let you download any of their suite. Or if you prefer blender, let me know because I love open source, Krita is awesome!

Also yeah, as for Autodesk programs thanks for the info, i was already aware of the fact they're providing the software with limited license free of charge. Initially, when i wanted to learn the basics of 3D i was very reluctant to even try fooling around with Blender, because its UI scared me off more than any other program, but in the end i forced myself to do so, and surprisingly enough i went from total frustration mode to i-love-it mode and now most of the time i know what i'm actually doing xD
It's all about the convoluted interface, which at first glance behaves completely against intuition, especially when someone has a bunch of hours spent in 3DS Max/Maya/others on their account, but in the end it's rather worth it to overcome the first UGH impresion.
It feels much better to support quality FOSS software than buying/pirating/using limited edition of commercial product; shame that not every tool out there has equally good free counterparts tho.

Well as a person with many hours spent in Maya, and only a few in other programs, I may have a rough time with the Blender interface. But, I'm definitely going to have to give it a shot sometime soon. Your feedback is compelling enough to make me feel it would definitely be worth it. Thanks!
