There's a good bit of panning here, so having both ears will definitely enhance your listening experience!

This is a tune I've had stewing in my head in some basic form for probably a few years now, which originally started as "concept for a SMW ice level song I might use eventually when I need that", but seeing as this is the Winter Chip, and a big one at that, I figured this was as good a time as any to finally bring to fruition such an icy tune. I daresay it ended up with a lot more flavor than I could've imagined it having when I first came up with the melody and chords.

In spite of the samples and context with which this song came to be, I made this with C700 for the sake of actually getting it done in time. I'll find time in the future to properly port it over to MML so it can be used as an intense icy level theme by some hypothetical future person that enjoys it.

This is beautiful! Hit me right in the nostlagia feels. It's like a perfect blend of some of my favourite SNES OST's. I can hear bits of kirby in there, with some JRPG elements. I'd love to know fi you used any particular games OST SF2 samples in here if you don't mind me asking? How did you go about making the sounds in C700?

@Connor Baxter: I actually only used Super Mario World samples, which is why most of the sounds are more synth-y. I used C700 with midi to make this song, which means that I connected the C700 VST to my DAW and set the instruments for each midi track in C700 by loading in .brr or .wav files (SNES “soundfonts” don’t usually come in .sf2 format, but individual .brr or .wav samples packed together).

this is so beautiful! the compositional structure is lovely, and compliments your sample textures so well. i could hear this in a real game so easily.

beautifully done

i daresay the percs were a little busier in places than it needed to be esp the slowed down triplets as it detracted/distracted from the nice stuff accompanying it

see i feel like if someone tried to use this in an SMW level, the level would become more about the music than the actual level itself. Mario would probably lose himself in the melody and get killed by a Koopa Troopa because he wasn't paying attention.

TLDR; all sevens

A very full, rich piece. The samples are, of course, perfectly appropriate for an SNES-era game, but I feel like you used them in a way that is exceptionally above their pay grade, so to speak. I'd say this is even RPG world map exploration music. Regardless, very nice work!

Incredible piece and well earned top spot for music entries!!! Basically gold if it weren't for those pesky visual formats! :P
