San Francisco Bay from Alviso
The southern end of the bay is distinguished by salt ponds, where the algae that grow in high salinity give the water a subtle pink tint. It's a strikingly beautiful combination of colors with the pink sky at sunset.
These salt ponds were previously used for the industrial production of salt, but have been converted into a wildlife refuge. The line between what is and isn't "nature" is blurry.
