I hear 4 channels using chords, 1 channel using hihats, 1 channel using kick, 1 channel using a snare, 1 channel using bass and 1 channel using a lead instrument. This adds up to 9 channels.

Am I hearing things wrongly, or did you use 1 channel too many?
