This definitely has that GEMS kind of feel. I think that the DX Slap bass really lends to that feeling. Not bad though

The second section is really chef's kiss. I think you hit on something really special with that melody + chord progression. I could listen to that loop for 10 more minutes, haha.

Really like the melody in the first half, and when the bass comes in in the second half. One idea for the second part could be making the chords more stabby after a while to add another rhythm to the mix
Also the transition between the two parts is quite natural, with a slow down and a slight pause. Nice one!

Second part is quite good, as others said. Also succeeds at sounding completely un-GEMS-like.
