First Battle of the Bits entry by me... gave it a shot for Detroit. I hope to produce a SNES entry eventually once Summer Chip 2 comes around...

I heard extreme manipulation was encouraged... so I went for it. To produce this entry, I mostly cut the samples when needed. However, I also blew some of these samples way out of proportion by really cranking up the pitch and let Schism Tracker's interpolation magic produce these sounds that come as unintended side effects. I also used Schism Tracker's internal filter set way low for thundering, booming effect.

Two of the samples had special VST effects applied to them before importing them into Schism Tracker. I used Audacity to apply a DestroyFX Geometry effect to dirty pads, and I applied a DestroyFX Polarization effect to the PNS announcement with some chopping as well.

Enjoy. ^_^

Same here, Jangler. The bass is a tad too loud for me, but it really helps create a Hollywood-like atmosphere (and to think this is an IT at heart!). On a side note, man, do I love those glitches!

In regards the earlier half, if this is what your remixes sound like, I'm anticipating your SPCs!

Thank you for the in-depth analysis of your methods! I wish more people did that on their entries.

I freaking love this! I kinda like the disorientingly* loud rumbles in my headphones. I'm just glad I didn't have the speakers on. We have an enormous subwoofer in this studio and I'm pretty sure I would have triggered an earthquake.

*is that a real word?

Yup, that's what I was going for! I went for the rumbles and made them sound like they would be severe (that's why there's so much power to them). By the way: I decapitated the ID666 tagging by directly hex editing it. I didn't think the tagging would be taken too kindly in this case after reading the documentation. The source IT file is a whole lot larger than the final MP3 (a good 30-40 MB!).

That bass rumble is massive. Too massive even.

Melodically, this is my favorite song of the compo.

Wait wait wait.

This is an SPC?

Wait no this can't be right... with all of these samples... why do you mention ID666? Do you mean ID3?

I placed fifth in interest and second in loaded pantaloons... I can see why I probably placed second in that particular category. Overall, I came in tenth. Not bad for a first major... hope you all enjoyed your remix. This was my first time doing a remix. ^_^

  Slimeball liēkd this
For those of you wanting the source .it file... wish granted, but beware: this thing is a monster in filesize! It's the largest .it file I have ever produced so far (I can't think of anything that I produced in October 2007 through mid-August 2008 that would rival this in filesize... although I do have a few from either end that does rival this). It's a whopping 37 MB, and even if I were to cut off the unused ends, that only takes off 3 MB. https://app.box.com/s/f9skmsg2l50x99hjhh9f
