Five Bagatelles

Five Bagatelles is a suite I wrote for solo piano late last year which I have been biding my time to submit to a compo.

PROGRAM NOTE: Composers often use the language of mathematics literally; they will take a mathematical construct and directly relate it to pitch, rhythm or some other aspect of music. Five Bagatelles takes the opposite approach—each movement reflects the different kinds of awe and joy one can feel whilst researching different fields of mathematics.

The score for this composition can be found on my website: https://aaroncottle.au/five-bagatelles.pdf

Thanks for listening!

what a lithe and lively composition! a wide range of mood represented too. the fifth one is my favorite, mainly for how the whole register of the piano gets used, but the calmer more balladic nature suits me

I've thought about sending in (much older) concert music pieces from my college days before but never have pulled the trigger. I think it'd be at least interesting if I rearranged them while transferring from finale to musescore, or just rearranged them completely for soundchips. one of these years...

Check out the Five Bagatelles for guitar by William Walton. Well, maybe you already know about that, but it's great anyway. Oh very nice writing by the way :)

edit: Do you find it easier to read the seperate 8vb bass staff? Like I can see why you did it but if I got this I might be like sheeeeit 0_0

editedit: ...not like I'd be good enough to pull this off anyway
